When Birthdays become a little less special

So does it happen when you have kids, or when you hit your thirties?  Somewhere a long the line it becomes just another day.  And for those of us in our late thirties we don’t really want to call attention to each passing year.  Or do we?  Wouldn’t it be nice to still get excited about your birthday?  To actually remember that it is our birthday?  To have a cup a coffee waiting when you wake up and kids that are good and able to get out the door to school without whining, complaining, or being difficult?  Oh yeah, that must be it.  It’s just like very other day.

Achh, this is sounding like a pity party (although hey at least that would be a party!)  It’s time to make some coffee, get dressed so I don’t face the basement guy in my pj’s.  Tiptoe around and enjoy the last few minutes of quiet before my three year old gets up and the day officially starts.

In business news, the new website is plugging along- just taking longer than I was hoping.  For everyone that is asking about new items- soon very soon.

I completely agree with you. I felt the same way about my birthday this year…just another day. My birthday is the day after my husband’s so we usually end up celebrating his birthday and then mine comes and it is just another day and usually gets forgotten. Such is life, huh!! Enjoy your coffee and here’s to a good day for you! ENJOY!

I celebrated a mid-to-late thirties birthday this week, or didn’t celebrate as the case may be! My four-year old daughter was completely puzzled when she found out there was to be no party and particularly let down when there was to be no cake!

We should take our kids’ leads and party like mad whenever there’s even a hint of an occasion 🙂

Happy Birthday and lots of love to our most special daughter-in-law.

Claire’s got it right, we should party. we should wear a big party hat all day/or a crown and a t-shirt that says “its my birthday”. mine ususally gets lumped together with our anniversary which is the next day. Live it up, there’s nothing to be ashamed of. And who cares if we’re getting older! its still a special day.

Happy Birthday!!! If I had know it was your birthday I would have baked you a cake! You wouldn’t get it because of the miles between us but I would have made you one! Heck, I still might! 😛

Happy Birthday! Today is mine too. We share the same birthday. I’m at the end of the forties – but you know, it keeps getting better.. My husband just walked in with some lovely yellow roses for me. They’re lying on top of a yummy looking cake. Yippee! Have a great ‘rest of the day’.

Happy happy birthday! Wish we were celebrating at Trudy’s or Crown and Anchor, or just downing a big old slice of cake at Texas French Bread. With husbands watching kids, of course…
