Back when I was a scrapbooker

I stumbled on a few old pictures and actually made a couple of pages.  The first picture was taken when we lived in California and went up to the mountains for a day of sledding.  I was probably three at the time.

As you can see I was/am a very simple scrapper!

I do think it is very important to get your memories down for your future generations, whether it’s in a journal or like my father-in-law with a little tape recorder.   Unfortunately I just don’t do it any more.  I keep telling myself I will, but time is always my enemy.

The other page I pulled out recently was this one

My oldest son is very curious about war lately.  He has checked out two books from the library about Vietnam and did a book report on one of them.  He asks me a lot of questions about what it was like to be a Marine and be in Vietnam- my dad was there twice.  I don’t know the answers to his questions.  We never talked about it when I was growing up.  Austin says he read that the soldiers were told to never talk about it.  I guess he read that in one of his books.  I know he doesn’t want gory details, I think he just wants to know what life was like.  What they ate, where they slept, did they ride in tanks?  That sort of thing.

Kids have questions and are curious about our lives and I love the fact that there are so many ways to record and remember our histories.  It’s just a matter of doing it!

I got the perfect solution to your “no time” issue. Digital! You are always near the computer anyways and this way when you are done, you close the lid. No clean up! I can hook you up! You just have to ask/tell me!
