What’s your favorite Christmas Song?

Trying to maintain my Christmas spirit around here- it’s hard when the house is turned upside down.  The painters were fired last week by my contractor and now new painters are starting.  Today is prep day.  I spent the morning tearing down the prep work that the old painters did since the new painters said it looked like an idiot did it.  Well that isn’t the word he used but….  There is paint over-spray everywhere-  I got the biggest one up that was right in the middle of my new family room, lots more to do.  There is a part of me that feels bad for the old painter- he has 6 kids, 10 and under.  But on the flip side I look around at the mess, knowing that they started the week of Thanksgiving and well, I just want my house back.  And now that it is almost Christmas and we are starting all over.  I am supposed to attend a cookie exchange tonight but I have no cookies, since I have given up my kitchen to painters again, and I am tired.  I was actually productive though- got a lot of stuff moved into the new studio- which I would show but the floor is still concrete and probably will be concrete for a while.  Too many things on my husbands to do list- studio is low on the list.

Oh and did I mention that our 15 year old dog knocked down the Christmas tree today?  Poor guy is deaf and sorta blind.  I had a heck of a time getting it back up, I’m sure you can picture the battle.  It would be funny if he didn’t pee all over the floor too. Sigh.

So let’s talk Christmas songs.

Andy made us a good mix the winter that I was pregnant with Cole, every year he seems to find a few more good ones but here are my favorites.

It must have been Ol Santa Claus-  Harry Conick Jr.

I saw 3 ships-  Sting

Do they know it’s Christmas- Band Aid

Frosty the Snowman-  Cocteau Twins

Silver Bells-  Sugar Ray and Rosie

Baby Please come home-  U2

So this is Christmas-  John Lennon

Oh Holy Night-  Jewel

Feels like Christmas-  Cyndi Lauper

That’s it for now, off to figure out why Blake is covered in a rash.

Oh you must must must check out the Christmas Song by Dave Matthews Band. It is so great. Not a traditional Christmas song, but it tells the story wonderfully, rich with emotions and images. *sigh* I just love it.

Regarding the studio – aren’t concrete floors hip right now? Just think about how easy it will be to find dropped pins on it.

Poor Rastro. But I am glad to hear he is still alive. Love that dog.

My favorite Christmas song is “O Holy Night” because the last time I actually attended Christmas Eve church (oops – quite a few years) a tenor soloist almost brought me to tears with it. But my husband is about to make me have to change it because he always reminds me about the Southpark episode where Cartman sang it. Damn him.
