From barefeet to Uggs

Amazing that in two hours we can go from tropical breezes to frigid temps!  To make matters worse, after Andy (who always gets a flu shot but missed it at work this year) got a positive flu test- three more of us started coming down with it.  Fortunately my doctor called me in a script for Tamiflu down to Orlando  so I am trying to nip mine in the bud.  I can’t get sick. Blake and Cole were not so lucky.  Despite the fact that Blake got the fluMist this year he came down with it anyway.  Cole had a blazing fever before we got on the plane to head home last night and the security people felt sorry for me and let me carry on my liquid Motrin.  He ended up sleeping the whole way home which was great.  We got in 10pm, picked Zoey up and drove on home.  Caught the last few minutes of the Bluejackets game, a win against Chicago.  As everyone started settling into bed Blake was sounding more and more croupy (he has chronic croup) so into the hot shower he went.  When that didn’t work Andy took him outside into the subzero weather.  That didn’t work.  He started to panic because he really couldn’t breathe so Andy rushed him off to the ER.  4 hours and a few breathing treatments later he was on his way back home and to bed.  Cole and I were up as he was pretty delirious from his fever and I was trying to make him take more Motrin.  What a mess.

Austin woke up feeling bad so they all stayed home from school.  Blake can’t stop coughing and his voice is gone.  We are off to the doctor to hopefully get some major cough medicine for him and some Tamiflu for Cole- if it isn’t too late.

All in all between dr trips in Orlando, Er visits here, and now two more trips in, plus all the meds- well let’s just say we could have funded another vacation.

Get your flu shots people!  Lesson learned.
