I was on the fence about tonights game because it is Girls Night Out but then this happened

Nash became the Captain of the team this week. This can only do good things for the team, and I can’t miss being there to see his debut of the “C”.
But also in this far-fetched crunch to try to make the play-offs, Hitch (the coach) claims to have some tricks up his sleeve.
To top it off, this game isn’t going to be on t.v.- so I can’t even dvr it and watch it later.
So this hockey junkie must go to the game.
Love this song
Love this song that a local radio station did about our former Captain
Adam Foote. If you want to read more about his quick departure- here ya go.

New Captain on the left, Old Captain on the right.
I honestly think his departure was the best thing to happen to our team.
I saw this pinned to the wall in Blake’s room yesterday

With his four favorite players in each corner.
Let’s go Jackets!

7:30am and time for school. Boy number 2 convinces me that he can’t go- he is going to puke. He looks a little green and since he usually eats 5 breakfasts and could barely finish one- I believe him. I let him stay home.
An hour later

hmmm, doesn’t look very sick to me.
Fooled again.
His dad called and said “Send him to school!”
but I didn’t.
It was kinda nice having some time alone with the middle one.

106.7 just left a message on the home phone that you won 311 tickets for this Sunday at the LC Pavillion. You need to call them back.
Do I need to get a babysitter?
Sunday is turning into a very busy day.
Let’s just hope no one else starts puking.
See- I told you he always wins stuff.

luckily he is feeling much better and downing tons of Gatorade. Whew. Fingers are crossed it doesn’t tear through the rest of the house.
When I was college (and pre-vet) I could do anything animal related. When my neighbor backed over his little tiny dog I was on it. Wrapping that little thing up and helping him take it in (it survived), i.v’s and dogs with parvo, injured and abused- you name it.
But people, whole different story.
Obviously I eventually decided that vet school was not for me. When I was at UT my roomate and I had the most fantastic vet for our dogs. He owns a large animal hospital there in Austin, he was so good with the dogs, always eager to share information. And of course the fact that he was very good-looking was nice too :) (but a lot older, and married with kids…)
He sat me down a couple times to talk about vet school- letting me get the inside view. I worked for a different vet at the time so I thought that I knew what I was getting into. But he explained that 80% of the work was dealing with people. People who a lot of times don’t share your views on what is right for their pet. People who don’t want to pay for the health of their pet, to save their life- or simply can’t. The abuse, the neglect, the frustration. The schooling is incredibly hard, the pay (unless you own your own hospital) not all that great. He suggested med school.
I didn’t give up on my dream of being a vet. Right after I had my first baby (after we had moved to Columbus) I talked to OSU’s vet school. I somehow got hooked up with one of their young female professors who was also a vet. She too had a young baby. She was honest, she told me that she never saw her child. She had to work all the time. She missed her family, she even missed her own dogs. The pay was bad.
At that point it was re-evaluation time. Baby had to come first. And my life took a different route. It’s weird to think about different paths- I have never regretted mine.
Wow, not sure where that came from- yet another rambling post.
Here are todays “out the door”

A small shipment going out today- but no picture because flickr is down.
More will go out tomorrow- a little bit of a snow delay
Another snow day- but Nintendo just released Super Smash Brothers Brawl for the Wii- boys are OCCUPIED
My hair appointment got canceled on Saturday when they closed down the city- but rescheduled for today- yay!
Flickr is down so you can’s see the fabric that the UPS man just left on my porch but
The Blue Jackets won yesterday!
And since I can’t post picture of bags, you get more hockey pictures- just what you always wanted I’m sure.
Goal!

Oh and a little more good and bad news- depending on how you look at it. My camera is acting up and not giving me the clear crisp shots it previously did. Wondering if it is time for an upgrade?
Julie didn’t Jim upgrade to this one? If so ask him to shoot me an email and let me know if it’s worth it.
Hopefully pictures will be back up and running later.

It is so pretty outside. Bright sun and gobs and gobs of snow. If we didn’t have hockey tickets I would load the crew up and head over to Mad River.
I was almost hoping that the Tampa Bay hockey team wouldn’t be able to make it in (they shut down the airport yesterday), especially after reading this. Apparently Hitch (the coach of the Blue Jackets) made the team drive in during the storm yesterday, get suited up, and then let them have an ear-full for 8 minutes and then sent them home. I know he is frustrated. The loss on Friday night was disappointing. For some reason this team can’t win at home lately. Stinks for those of us that like to go watch them play. Makes me wonder what todays game will be like. I’m not sure I want to know. And Nash with a “stinger” in his neck? What the heck does that mean? He better suck it up.
At any rate we are going, it’s an early game- and we are only taking two out of three. Which will be a nice change for me as I never get to hang with just the older boys.
Still, I can’t help but wish we were doing some outside playing before all this great snow gets washed away next week.
This poor dog- she really wants to hang with the real I mean big dogs. Not really working out for her. Now she is inside watching them out the window. Crying. Sigh.

So when the sky opens up and dumps 18 plus inches of snow, what do you do? You go sledding.

Tromping up the middle of the street, heading over to their school to the sledding hill

Seriously fun snow

Wipe out
