Well, that was fun

So it started on Friday when I was waiting in the lobby of the school after SuperGames for the kids to finish up.  My phone rings and it’s Andy.  Apparently Blake’s teacher called him (not realizing that I was already there).  He was in the classroom sick.

So I find him, he was about to puke.  I call Andy to pick us up because I had walked over.  I take him home and get him settled in my bed so he can rest up for the soccer party we were having that night.  I thought he was probably just over-heated from playing outside all day in the sun.

I went to a friends house to pick up Cole and when I came back Blake had puked in my bed.  UGH!  Our washer was dead and the new one was not scheduled to be delivered until today.

He feels a little better and is able to join the party.  There were three doctors at the party and the wife of one suggested I give him Dramamine.  So I gave him some and he was wolfing down hot dogs and cookies by the end of the night.

Now since he recovered so fast and because I thought it was just the heat, I didn’t do my normal “someone in the house has the stomach flu so I am only going to eat bananas (or any other light food for a couple days”.  I do this because I had a really bad experience one time when the stomach flu ripped through our house- I thought I was in the clear, had a HUGE meal and puked it all up.  And not to be super gross or anything, well let’s just say it was a lot of puke and it was really gross.  Tasted the whole meal twice.

Anyway, I didn’t think it was the stomach flu, once again ate a ton- and by early Sunday morning I knew I was in trouble.

It was the stomach flu alright.  I too took the dramamine, but didn’t bounce back like my little friend Blake.  Spent the day in bed instead, but at least I didn’t puke all day.  Instead I missed going to the Memorial (no I am not a golfer but we had free tickets and some of our friends were going) and to Cincy to my nieces graduation party.  🙁
Now Austin is on the couch with a bucket by his head.   I just gave him the dramamine.  Apparently your body doesn’t need to keep puking when you have the bug (unlike food poisoning, where you have to get the poison out) who knew?

The good news is that I am feeling much better and the delivery guys just delivered my new space age looking washing machine.  Bad news is I have no idea how to work it and it appears to hold twice as much as my dryer (that I didn’t replace).  That could be tricky.

In other news it the last week of school for the boys- yay!  Well yay until they all start fighting.

Oh, Elisa!!!!!! You KNOW I am feeling some major sympathy for you right now!!!!!! But I do have to admit that your description of everything had me laughing because I truly can relate on an almost scary level (the “someone in the house has the stomach flu” diet).

Also completely understand the excitement of summer until the fighting starts. For me, it will be within the first 10 minutes of them coming home on the last day of school. Yep, I’ll be ready for them to go back within a couple weeks! There has to be something out there that works to stop the fighting, I just haven’t figured it out yet!

Aw! I hope everyone feels better!!
Totally random question, is your washer a front loader washer?

  3. Elisa | 2nd Jun 08

Yes- both the old one and the new one are front loaders. I would never go back to a top loader.

We missed you on Sunday, glad you are feeling better. I’m jealous about the space-age washer. Love you.
