I often get asked for “lifestyle” photos of my bags so people can get a better idea of their size. A couple years ago I did a bunch but nothing lately, and there have been a lot of bags added since then.
So….thinking “it can’t be that hard… I can use a mirror and crop my face and camera out”.
It’s not that easy.
In fact nothing about it was easy. From all the crazy angles, laundry in the background, a house full of boys and friends yelling “where is my swimsuit??” or “I’m hungry!” to well let’s just say that modeling isn’t my thing.
I managed to get a few that I like, but they all seem to only include my feet. I will post them in the next few days.
In the meantime- this will give you a good idea about the size of the Bailey. I am loving it in this chocolate trellis.
This is part of an order that is going out for a bride that ordered a bunch for her bridesmaids. What a cool bride!

I have been having a hard time lately- playing the mom roll and the business owner roll. I need a class on time management or something.

I have gotten so many requests from the fabric lovers out there to offer up more of our fabric to sell so I have been thinking hard about that. In the past I would just put up ones that I knew we had a ton of- now I am starting to think I may put them all up as that would allow more fabric to come through the door. Of course it also means more work- so I don’t know.
I am also brainstorming a few other ideas with bags, adding more, taking some off. I already took down a couple for the summer- and of course the day that I did I got three emails asking where they were.
So the Emma is down for a bit, as is the Clara. I am going to replace the Jordyn (at least for now) with the larger version

because it just seems to be a perfect summer bag- I will probably call it the Jordyn2 because I am just so original like that.
Look for it on there soon.

Andy’s work does this thing called “summer fridays” which is basically an option to work more during the week and take a half day on Friday. It’s a great idea but it never works out. At least not for him.
But yesterday it did- well sorta, he came home at 3. So what do you do when you have a Friday afternoon free? You hit the lake.

Blake cracks me up when he tubes- his long hair blowing in the wind

Austin is crazy man tuber- he likes to go fast and bumpy

A parent always has to ride with Cole- and it’s slow and steady. I love riding with him, he gets so excited.

Tired boys. Watching the boats go by.

Perfect summer afternoon

Astro the million year old wonder dog is fine. All he has is a urinary tract infection. No kidney failure, no cancer.

some antibiotics and he should be good to go.
Austin has recently turned into a skateboard punk. He bought himself a skateboard with his mowing money and has been out every night.
When you glance up and see your kids at a top of a hill like this- well is there any chance that it will turn out well?

because not only does he have to try it on his feet, he has to try it every other way he can think of too.
Helmets are a good thing.
So is DQ- where we had to head after. Along with everyone else in the city.

my little stinker

Happy Friday!

too much to do. The yard is a mess, the kids are all home, and a bunch of sewing to do. Trying to keep focused and productive.
Thank you for the kind words on Astro- turns out that the vet was not calling about the results from his cyst (we still haven’t heard about that). Apparently he is having kidney issues. They want us to collect a urine sample. Nice.
Anyway, he is still kicking- you would never know he is as ancient as he is. Well except for the fact that he can’t hear a thing- which is a mixed blessing.

Recently we have decided to check out some local lakes.
The first one is Indian Lake where we spent the day yesterday.

Indian Lake is about an hour West of here.

We found a lot of very pretty places. This one was my favorite

Can’t you imagine spending a nice relaxing summer there? Actually I could live in that house year round!
We saw lots of families- grandparents, kids, grandkids, dogs- hanging out at most of these houses. Lots of boats, jet skis, water trampolines. My kids were going nuts.

Isn’t this a cool old bridge? Built in 1877

One of the channels

lots of boats

another cool house

Now we just need to win the lottery.

A couple days ago Andy took three of our four dogs in for their annual vet appointments. Zoey wasn’t due so he loaded up Barley the golden, Astro the coyote mutt, and Shiloh the beagle mutt into his car and with and with Austin’s help took them up the road to see the vet.
$999 later he came back. No lie, nine hundred and ninety-nine freakin’ dollars. UGH!
I didn’t want him to take Astro. Astro is old old old. We found him on the street in Austin (fully grown) in 1993. So we have had this dog for 15 years. Who knows how old he was when we found him. He can’t hear, can’t see well, and is frail. We have prepared ourselves for his passing for the last year, and I just didn’t think it was worth dragging him in since he never leaves our house. But he did, and of course they wanted to do blood work, especially since he has a big growth on his side. So now we know that Astro is old, and also most likely has cancer (the vet left a message today about his “results”- didn’t sound promising). And while it is sad to hear that he probably has cancer, we also know he has had a very long happy life, and he is OLD, very old for a dog his size. Oh and he also has an ear infection.
Then there is Shiloh- she also had ear infection. All else was fine with her crazy self.
Barley the Golden has had allergy issue her whole life. First there was the testing, expensive! Then we find out she is allergic to everything. Nice. Then the shots that we give her each week, that don’t work. Then the steroids to keep her from going nuts. While we on vacation she got a big hot spot on her head so they shaved that- she is a mess! Oh and she is a tad overweight. 103 pounds, they like for her to be about 20 lbs. lighter. Oh and she has an ear infection too.
Sigh. So today I took her out for a walk on the hike and bike trail- I am going to try to get her thin again. Funny how people stare at you when you are walking a huge dog with a gaping head wound. It felt good to be moving again though- I have had a tension headache for about 2 months now- or so it seems. Getting out and running with Barley felt good! There were a lot of people on the trail, including a woman riding a bike with a little Zoey dog in a Baby Bjorn type baby carrier thing. When Barley saw that (she was very tired by that point) she turned and looked at me like, “HEY! That looks like a great idea!” The thought of me riding a bike with Barley strapped on my back had me cracking up the rest of the way.
And the question we keep getting asked- no we will not replace Astro when he dies. We prefer to have only two dogs, but since Shiloh and Zoey equal (in weight anyway) about 40lbs. they really only count as one. Right?
Off to watch a soccer game- Happy Saturday Night!

the weather took a turn for the better and the kids actually swam before the fireworks.
It wasn’t as crowded as it has been in the past which was very nice- easier to keep track of the kiddos.
A very nice night.

We are still battling cool temps so there will be no swimming when we head over to the pool to watch the fireworks. In fact I think I may even take a sweatshirt. Crazy weather!
Hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday weekend!
