Sleeping under the stars

Our family has been passing around some sort of crud for a couple of weeks now. Cole had it pretty bad over Thanksgiving and on the way home from the farm it was obvious that Blake was getting a pretty decent case of it as well.

Blake has what is called “chronic croup” which results in his airways swelling up whenever he has an allergy attack or a bad cold. It often results in an ER trip for a dose of epinephrine. He is supposed to have outgrown in by now but no such luck.

Last night around 3am he came into our room wheezing saying he couldn’t breathe. Last winter we were given oral prednisone by his doctor to have on hand in an effort to keep us out of the ER. The only problem is that it takes a good hour to work.
So Andy gave him the meds and then did the hot shower shower steam deal that never works. Next thing I know he and Blake are headed out to the balcony that is off our master bedroom. Sleeping bags in tow.
I was sure that Blake was waking up the neighborhood with his barking cough for the first hour and half they were out there, but then it slowed down to one cough every 15 minutes or so and soon all was quiet. Around 5am I peaked out the door and there they were, snuggled up in the hammock together in 40 degree weather sleeping under the stars. I thought about waking them up, but they looked so peaceful.
Around 6am they came inside- apparently it had started to rain a bit.

Tomorrow pictures from our trip to the tree farm!
