Short but sweet

my days of driving a cool car are about to come to an end. I love love love my 4-Runner and was sooo happy to give up the mini-van that I had been driving for 9 years. Yes, we tend to keep our cars forever.

But three boys crammed in the backseat resulted in too much touching, which led to too much fighting, which led to one very annoyed mama. I could deal with this since the times that I have them all together is rare, and if I do have them all together Austin usually rides shot-gun. But if we are ALL together (including Andy) it’s just not fun.

We were still holding onto our old Sienna for that very reason. Everyone preferred to ride in it if we were driving for more than say 5 minutes as a family. But having 3 cars is just silly so we have been chatting about selling the Sienna, Andy’s Avalon, and buying a newer mini-van. And guess what that means…. Andy gets my 4-Runner.

And wouldn’t you know that when we decide to sell those cars- someone plows into the van and knocks a mirror off and some one else hits the Avalon while Andy has it parked at work. Sigh.

So I am going back to the world of mini-vans, a car I swore I would never own. And yes, I did consider a bigger SUV but I just can’t justify the non-green-ness of the whole thing.

So Missy if you are looking for me around town I am going to be much harder to spot these days in a sea of Honda Odesseys.

I know that mini-vans aren’t all that “green” and I was trying to hold out for a hybrid that was big enough for our family, but I was happy to learn that the van had Variable Cylinder Management.

Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) is Honda’s term for a variable displacement technology. It uses the i-VTEC system to disable one bank of cylinders during specific driving conditions (for example, highway driving) to save fuel.

It actually goes from 6 down to 3. Pretty cool.

So enough about cars. Here are a couple pictures from our trip to see the Zoo Lights the other night.

at least it’s not a silver honda pilot…
I swear at least 3 of my friends have one!! INSANE 🙂

And I think I’ll be adding an OSU magnet to the back of my bright yellow xterra… so I may be even easier to spot.

And I see you made the zoo!! GOOD FOR YOU 🙂
We never did make it. Maybe next year.
