Thanks for the reminder

Last night we had dinner at a nice restaurant. Taking three boys out to dinner is always *fun* and the looks that we get are always entertaining. And as a mom of three boys I am always getting “sympathy” comments.

Last night the boys were pretty good, especially since Andy didn’t get home from work until 7pm so we were late heading out. Cole was under the table a few times, up out of his seat a few times, and then one dramatic episode of crying with his head on the table when I wouldn’t let him play with my iPhone.

By the end of the meal I had moved to their side of the table to help. When we were putting on our coats an older woman and her husband came up and touched my arm and said,

“I just want to tell you that you have a beautiful family. I had three little boys once, the youngest is now 41. I just want to tell you to enjoy it, I am so jealous of where you are right now- it was so much fun, and it goes so fast.”

Andy said something, “thank you- we sometimes forget” and I just smiled, fighting back the tears that were threatening to bust out.

Today I have all the boys home from school, some sort of teacher day. Andy flew out to NYC for meetings so we are on our own. There will be fights, there will be yelling, and it will all be ok. I am a very lucky girl.

Yup I agree! I am always rushing and doing this and that and need to S.L.O.W. down. I’d hate to miss out on what’s in front of me. And I am always thinking of that post you posted awhile back about the woman at the mall who was telling her son to hurry up b/c they had someplace/something they had to do. That post to this day still pops up in my mind when I’m telling my 5yr. to hurry up. I didn’t realize how many times I say it in a day until reading that post. Thanks for your reminder!

I think you had an angel cross your path. What a gift.
