Giving Up

So Lent started yesterday and even though we are not Catholic, my husband grew up Episcopalian which is pretty darn close. Well in some ways. ANYWAY, he has decided to give up dessert. I am going to hold him to it- we will see how long it lasts.

I asked Austin what he is going to give up, he said, “nothing”. Blake wasn’t around for the convo and Cole well Cole is Cole. His thoughts are always on something else. In the middle of a conversation yesterday he blurted out, “wouldn’t it be funny if Spongebob had a penis?” To which Austin replied, “Um no, it wouldn’t be a KID show.”

I am not going to give up anything either as I am already on a health kick as of late so I am just going to continue down that road. Lots of gym time, lots of fruit smoothies, less junk food. I love junk food but lately I have been doing pretty good.

The past two weeks I have been getting all caught up on Dr appointments for everyone. A mole removal for Andy (which I am trying not to go down the road I went down with Blake….), a well-check for Cole. I went to the eye doctor a couple days ago because my right eye has been blurry and I haven’t been to the eye dr. in about 5 years.

Turns out I have an astigmatism in that eye but it isn’t bad enough to require glasses. Yay! I went back in with Austin yesterday, thinking his complaints of not being able to see far away, well were just complaints- not bad eyes. Since I don’t need glasses and Andy has something like 20/15 vision or something like that I just figured that he wouldn’t need them. I was wrong. He really can’t see far away. So he gets glasses.

And the whole time he is there he is chatting up the eye doctor about iPhone apps and they are making fun of me because I use my iPhone as a phone (and sometimes iPod) and have no idea how to do all the things they are talking about. The eye dr said, “yeah when I go snow boarding I really like to use Pandora”. I was just sitting there listening thinking- at least I am not the only one that doesn’t act my age.

Now today is the dentist. I really like my dentist, she is very cool. I just don’t like dental work. But so it goes.

Warm weather here today- we are all ready for some Spring. Everything changes when the warm temps start. The open windows, the longer days, the time outside. I love our house in the warm weather- I throw everything open. The dogs come and go, the kids come and go. Perfect.

Window Art

Played around with my lensbaby yesterday for this blurry shot of Cole’s window art. I can’t wait to start doing more with photography and one of the first things I am going to do is change this blog. I hate it. I want bigger pictures and less ugly theme. But that’s a whole nother story.

Enough rambling for one day- back tomorrow with flickr faves.

Miss you all. As one who understands so well, I hope the skin biopsy results come out all okay. It does take awhile for results and that is hard. Spring is good thing – let’s be sure to lock in a time to get together this summer.

    Love your new blog look!

Would you share some of your fruit smoothie ideas, please?
I too have been trying to be healthier, even invested in a personal trainer one day a week, she is great.
So, I need a little help on the eating part.
    Thanks, Elisa.
Your pictures are great like always.
