Eva rakes it in and more sickies

Thursday I was upstairs folding laundry when I heard Blake bust through the front door after school. It sounded like he was crying and two seconds later Cole yells up, “mom, Blake is sick!”

I go downstairs and sure enough, his head is on fire. I ask why he didn’t call me to come get him and he said the nurse wouldn’t let him leave. I dose him up with ibuprofin- more for the wicked sore throat he had than the fever, and send him to bed.

All through the night he gets up, complaining about his throat. Yesterday he is still complaining, starting to also get croupy. By two I text my friend Kris and beg, “can I please bring Blake in for a strep test??” She replies, “yes if you COME RIGHT NOW”. She likes to meet her kids to walk home from school with them. Fortunately her office is two blocks away. I tell her I will be right there.

I run Cole down the street to my friend Lynne who was working from home since he was running around in his underwear and t-shirt. I knew Blake was going to have an issue with the strep test, he has a horrible gag reflex and the last thing I want to do is deal with Cole, baby, and Blake’s drama.

I get Blake to the dr. and he almost pukes all over the floor while getting swabbed. Brittany (the nurse) and I jump back super fast to avoid puke on our feet. He managed to hold it in.

We get the results-strep- our script, and head out the door. I realize that Blake’s guitar lessons are in 5 minutes. He really wants to go. I know, I know, I shouldn’t let him go. But…. I tell him that I will swing by the house, he can run in and get his guitar while I drive on down the street and pick up Cole. In the meantime I pass one of Lynne’s kids so I pick her up but as we drive by a garage sale she screams, “let me out!! I need to check this out!” I let her out, get Cole- he is grumbling about how he didn’t get to stay long enough, how Lynne gave him the wrong color popsicle, etc. I drive back up the street, Blake leans out the front door and says, “I can’t go, I feel horrible.” Cole jumps out and heads inside and I head to CVS to get his meds, pass Austin and gang. He yells “will you get me a coke?”

I call Andy to tell him the strep news, get to cvs, get out lock the car- take 5 steps and realize I forgot Eva. Freak because we have all heard those horror stories. Still on the phone with Andy I yell, “I forgot the baby in the car!” Ok, I had only gone a few steps but it was a reminder that I really need to get used to having 4 kids. 4! Plus a few extras here and there. I should add here that after I had Cole my mom and I went to Target, got out of the car and walked to the door before we realized that we didn’t have Cole.

In other news Eva had a nice day yesterday. Andy’s work had a little party for him (and her although she wasn’t there) and some of my girlfriends had a welcome Eva party.

I haven’t had a shower in 12 years! Well that didn’t sound right- baby shower I mean.
Check out he loot

Everyone has been so very generous.

Eva was so excited about her party, here she is about 30 minutes before it started, and what she continued to do throughout the party.

I threw my point and shoot camera into my bag since my big one wouldn’t fit. Bis mistake. My pictures turned out terrible.

I do love this one of Eva and Teri, Eva loves to smile

She was held the entire night. Lots of mommies getting a baby fix. I wish my other pictures had turned out. It was too dark to go no flash, and I just can’t bring myself to turn a flash on.

So you are probably wanting to see what was in all of those bags. Lots and lots of pink. I will try to get some pictures later and show you.

But for now, thanks to all for a great night! Thank you Jen S for once again being the party house, and Lynne and Julie for the organization.
