The Get-Away

Now is probably the time that I should fess up that I am not going to some exotic local with a bunch of girlfriends.

I am actually driving up to Michigan. By myself.

I know. Sounds great, right?

Nothing like going North for this sun seeking mama.

That said, I am beyond excited about where I am going as I have wanted to go for YEARS.

Most of you that have been reading this blog forever know that photography is my #1 passion. I have been taking pictures since I was kid, learned all my darkroom skills in high school AP art, and majored in it at the University of Texas.

Photography is something that I have that is just for ME.

And a big chunk of the money I make through Elisalou goes right into my hobby.

So when the cards fell into place to attend a workshop given by one of my fave photographers Amy Wenzel, I shot off an email to Andy and he said “go”.

He even added, “who knows if we will always live this close to her- go while you can”.

Does he have secret plans to move me to the beach??? just kidding.

SO I thought about it. For a couple weeks. Back and forth I went. Should I go? Should I not go?

Andy kept saying, “what is holding you back?”

Well besides the 4 obvious ones, it isn’t a cheap workshop. Do I really want to invest that much money in a “hobby”

And then he said, “you are investing in our family.”

So off I go.
