29 months

I thought it might be time for an Eva update. Exactly one month away from being 2 1/2!

Eva is a big time two year old. Meaning she likes things her way, can pitch a good fit, and is into EVERYTHING.

She has always been a very physical child but lately we have been struggling more with her aggressiveness with other kids. Everyone says it’s because she has three brothers, and I am sure that plays a part in it, I mean her examples of other kids have all been physical, no one is sitting around playing dolls….

That said, I think she would be like this even if she was an only child. With all my kids I have noticed that one area tends to develop faster than the other. They either go down the physical road or they go down the verbal road. All of Eva’s energy seems to be put squarely on the physical. She is strong, and when I take her to the park I can tell the moms of boys her age are wondering why their son can’t do what she can do. She likes to play, tumble, and run.

Her verbal skills have not developed as fast. I am not worried. She talks. And she understands everything we say and tell her to do. But I know sometimes she gets frustrated when she can’t get her point across, and then she gets pushy.

A few weeks ago when I went to pick her up at my gyms childcare they gave me a bag with about 5 whispy blonde hairs in it. They told me that she pulled a little girls hair. And the girl cried, a lot. Now why they felt they had to save them in a bag (I thought my friend that was with me was gonna pee her pants trying not to laugh) I mean did they think I wouldn’t believe them? Anyway, I felt so bad I didn’t go back to the gym for weeks.

When I finally braved it back, I made sure to sit down and have a chat with Eva, tell her that she had to be good, no hair pulling, all gentle touches. She agreed. I also made sure she had a full belly, that usually helps her mood.

While in my class at the gym I ran into my friend that was our social worker and did our homestudy for Eva’s adoption. (She didn’t start out as my friend, she was our sw first and then we became friends after seeing each other at the gym all the time). She has three boys, one that is Eva’s age. I told her why I had been absent, she just laughed and said her youngest is a biter. I felt better.

And when I picked Eva up that day, and every time since, I have gotten a good report.
However, she is still scratching and pulling hair at home. But only to her brothers, and sometimes they deserve it….

But we are working on it.

This week she gets to start a parents day out program. At the same school her two older brothers attended. With the same teacher Austin had 12 years ago. The other two boys did not attend parents day out. Its an oldest and youngest thing in this family, apparently.

Eva is incredibly social and outgoing. She loves people and that is probably because she was passed around and loved on by so many people from the very beginning. The village baby.

She and Cole both LOVE to have a babysitter come over. Something we never did with the first two. Now we take advantage of it as much as we can.

Sleeping- the girly still likes to sleep. 12 hours a night and a two hour nap each day. I know. Don’t hate. After three boys that gave up their nap on their first birthdays and still don’t appreciate sleep as much as I do….. well I deserve her awesome sleep schedule.

She is also a good eater. Not a ton of veggies but she loves fruit and eats hummus with her fingers, she just scoops it out and shoves it in.

I just started letting her have juice boxes, mainly because she can now open the big heavy doors of our fridge and she gets them out herself.

She loves shoes. And she has good taste. She likes to pick out her clothes “wear that!!”

I am really enjoying this time with her. She is so fun to be with, and her little personality comes out more and more each day. 🙂

She is so fun 🙂 I can’t believe they kept the hairs…that would have made me start gagging…I’m not a fan of other people’s hair.

Sophia makes all the boys look bad too. A little boy at Dmitry’s soccer practice (who is almost 8) could not catch Sophia in a game of tag. She is a freak of nature when it comes to athletics.

Dmitry was a biter too…and my Sophia is a pincher 🙂
