Memory Lane

Lately I have been feeling a big tug about how fast my baby girl has grown.

And the boys too for that matter.

Standing in the middle of the elementary book fair the other day with one of Cole’s football coaches, talking about kids. We don’t know each other very well and I happened to mention that my husband has been traveling a lot, but with 4 kids I stay pretty busy and the time passes pretty quick.

“You have 4 kids?? what are the ages??”

I tell him- People I meet that have kids Cole’s age are more surprised by the 14 year old than the two year old.

So I go on to explain- yep, huge 14 year old. Not sure how it happened, I swear I gave birth to him yesterday. But you know, everyone says it when they are small. Don’t blink, they will be grown before you know it. And while you are in the middle of sleepless nights or crazy terrible twos, you just don’t listen. But fast forward. Oh just fast forward.

“It’s hard to believe, it really is.” I tell him. “Everyone told me time would fly, but wow- it flew way faster than I thought possible.”

“do you miss it?” he asked- gazing at his 2nd grader and slightly older sister.

“Yep- that’s why I have a two year old!”

And technically she is no longer two, she is two and a HALF

And just yesterday she was small.

And while our house is chaotic, and there are many two year tantrums from a very dramatic little girly, and boys fighting and whacking each other for looking at each other the wrong way, and really solo parenting just isn’t fun- when I tuck them all into bed each night (well not the 14 year old) I thank my lucky stars that I get to spend my days being the mama to this crazy, weird, but most of the time fun brood.

The girly gets to go see Ginky soon- and she is about to pee her pants she is so excited. Well she pees her pants either way but you know what I mean.

One final older pic.

the smile on your face with the picture of Cole and Eva says it all! happiness, life is good. You are right, they grow up far too quickly. I wish I could stop it.

Yup, I love the picture of you smiling with Cole and Eva. Such a great picture of just pure happiness. They do grow so fast, sometimes it’s good and other times you just want them to stop growing.

As I get older I realize just how fast life passes by. I don’t have children of my own, but I remember the birth of my nephews like it was yesterday (and the oldest is 14).

It’s so neat to see the changes in the kids just after a couple years! Great pictures.

Good luck on the solo parenting while the hubby is away!

Seriously? This made me all sad and weepy. Why do they have to get so big? That last picture did me in.

Linhsey is 5 now. I don’t have a baby anymore. And my baby boy went and grew up on me too. He’s about to be 14 in a few short weeks. Waaahhh!
