House Hunting- Chapel Hill

We have been on a few house hunting trips down to Chapel Hill, I will share more about that later.

We have narrowed down our search. It wasn’t easy. Chapel Hill is layed out kinda funky.

And the schools are zoned kinda funky too.

And Austin has his heart set on one particular high school. So we have to be zoned for that school instead of the other two.

Plus we wanted at least an acre.

I will show you which houses we narrowed it down to in a future post. Two are completely done, the last is a “fixer”.

I have been looking at house stuff online- trying to figure out what I am up for and ideas on what I want.

I used to love looking at houses. Not so much anymore. We have seen a lot.

And lets just say that your money doesn’t go very far in Chapel Hill. My kids were shocked by some of the houses. Total Dumps for big cashola.

So trade-offs will have to made. There is only one neighborhood that has cool old houses, but they are right by campus and they are well over 2 million.

So scratch old house off the list.

We found a new “green” built art and crafts style one that we love.

I loved almost everything about this house

Love it? Yeah me too. But we aren’t buying it.

It’s too far out of town. Which in CH means only about 10 minutes. But still. It feels isolated. And I just don’t think that is right for us at this point. Plus it doesn’t feed into the right high school.

But man- that house would have been perfect for me.

Those stairs…. I would totally do this

We found one that we loved right away that was right in the middle of town- it even had a Tarheels pool in the backyard.

But even though it was priced very high, it sold within a few days of going on the market and we never got to go inside.

But that’s ok, because I don’t want a tarheel pool, I want my pool to look like this

And to get that pool in my backyard we need a backyard that isn’t wooded (which a lot of them down there are) and we need a house that doesn’t break the bank, so we can actually afford to put in a pool.

Trade-offs…..

Those houses are looking pretty sweet. I agree you totally need that pool and a very large luxurious guest house 🙂

Oh my…that first house was ahhhh-mazing!!
Good luck on your house hunt. I used to love looking at houses and then it took me a year to find my current house and now I can’t even imagine ever starting to look again.
