Happy day after Xmas

So are you one of those people that gets bummed out the day after Christmas? All of the excitement is over. All the fun Christmas shows, the decorations, the lights….

I am not one of those people. The day after Christmas my tree comes down. In fact by mid-afternoon on Christmas I am ready to take it all down. It’s a wrap.

I like to put decorations up early and get them down early. Especially this year, when we have so much to get done in the next couple of weeks.

I like the new year, the fresh start.

What I don’t like is when January hits and I realize that I am stuck inside for the next 5 months. But hey, I am moving south. Perhaps that will be different this year as well.

Christmas for us this year was a half-hearted attempt (I just couldn’t pull out every decoration, knowing that we had tons of packing looming over us) but I think we still pulled it off. Even Blake, who has had a fever and cough and on and off puking declared it a major success. I just hope he feels better soon, my back hurts from sleeping on the couch in the family room with him.

Eva had a great time opening her presents and has done great with the whole idea of it all. It was fun to watch her enjoy it this year.

I felt I did Christmas half hearted too. I just couldn’t find my spirit this year. I hope Blake feels better. Good luck with the move! I love the half door, it would be fun.

The past few years I have felt like I did Christmas half way. This year I felt really present. I gave up on doing everything and then managed to get a lot of stuff done. I kind of crammed in everything the last two weeks…and I did skip a lot of extra stuff like parties and Christmas cards.

I’m not sad when Christmas is over but I hate the week between Christmas and New Years.
