Weird

Things are weird around here.

I have developed a twitch in my right eye that flairs up when I talk about moving or sometimes when I even think about moving.

Moving is stressful. Very.

But it’s also exciting. So I cling to that part.

Cole went to the dentist today and apparently he has teeth growing in the wrong place. His mouth is a mess. First on the list is to find an orthodontist in Chapel Hill.

Last Friday Blake came home from lacrosse practice and told me he almost passed out on the field. He was coming down with a cold and I wrote it off to having two sleepless sleepovers in a row. Plus Cole and Eva both had nasty colds with a bad cough.

But today, almost a week later he has a fever and cough and puking that just won’t go away.

One of us has slept downstairs with him every night.

Decided it was time to get the dr. involved.

Turns out he has pneumonia in one lung. The doctor said that it will take a good week for him to get better.

I feel like a bad mom 🙁

At least he got a laptop and new quilt for Christmas.

I did take a few (bad quality) pics on Christmas, but not many

He looks thrilled- he was actually excited about that gift- nice dark circles under his eyes 🙁

We decided to play a joke on Austin this year. When we were down in Chapel Hill he wanted to steal a piece of coal out of a train car.

I of course took pics.

Always good to wear a bright red sweatshirt with your name on the back.

The rest of us watched but were prepared to make a run for it if anyone said anything to him.

So when we filled all of the kids stockings this year, his was empty- except for the piece of coal. I wanted to put a list in there of every thing he had done bad this year- detention for using a cell phone at school, getting busted by the police while toilet papering a friends house (it was pay-back), calling me from Subway the other evening after he and all his friends ordered subs and then realized that they had no money…. you know, funny things like that.

Well it would have been funny- he believed that was all he was getting. That’s the coal, wrapped in plastic wrap so his stocking wouldn’t get dirty.

But Cole started to cry. And I can’t stand to see my baby cry. So I rushed and got the stocking that was full of Austin’s gifts and told Cole that I was just kidding, Santa actually DID leave him presents, I just switched them with the coal.

My kids are going to need therapy.

I’m sorry but that is hysterical! I love that Cole was crying over Austin not getting a gift. Maybe it’s because he was scared that he might get caught doing something be on next year’s naughty list 🙂

Don’t feel bad about the pneumonia thing. We all make those mistakes. Dmitry woke up in the middle of the night couldn’t stand at all {years ago} and Greg kept saying he was just asleep and to ignore it. He wasn’t and we ended up in the ER being quarantined because he had some strange contagious virus. Notice I didn’t tell you about any of MY mistakes…duh. It’s make your husband look like the bad guy day 🙂

Dmitry got a new laptop too. He did not get a new quilt because his mother can’t figure out how to thread her bobbin and can only sew straight lines.

Both Jack and Maura got pneumonia this year about 6 weeks apart and, yes, my big, strapping football player had to come to his mama and tell me, ‘ I need to see the doctor TODAY!.’ Just like he did when he was three and had scarlet fever (when we thought he just have a fever and a rash)…15 years in and we are still figuring it out!
Hope Blake feels better soon and can lay low for the whole time (gets tough near the end!)

Robbie had pneumonia for a week too before I took him to the doctor. We can be in the bad mom club together. He had it right before Thanksgiving. It was rough, and we were going out of town. He slept a lot that trip. I love Miss E’s owl hat! She is so cute!

Moving is stressful. It will all come together. When is the target date to be in Chapel Hill?

Love the coal, sorry Cole cried. It is kind of funny. Your kids will be fine. Robbie gets coal every year–in candy form. It has become our joke.

    Too funny about the coal!

I think my husband says magnesium helps eye twitch – I seem to remember him telling a friend that a while back . . . maybe add that supplement to your diet 🙂 I will ask and double check but thought I would pass that along…

Happy 2012 – good luck moving – I can’t even imagine if we had to now – way too much stuff!

I had pneumonia the middle of December and it was awful! I laid on the couch for 11 days before I could move! Then….my husband got it a few days before Christmas (oops!)

    Hope Blake feels better soon!
