How is your week going?

Mine has had some ups and downs.

A down was my sickie boy on Monday.

Sick boy :(

He’s better now.

An up was my Pottery barn stuff arrived

Yay! PB stuff arrived! Now time to clean it up!!

A down is that Eva isn’t the best helper when trying to get this room pulled together. One step forward, two steps back. A good is that I am still getting rid of stuff in there. Purge purge purge.

A down is the spiders- my porch in Ohio had a lot of spider webs- but pretty sure this one has more. Although this one looked cool yesterday in the rain

A down was some crappy weather, sad emails from friends. Seems lots of people had a bad start to the week. A good was picking Eva up from preschool, her arms brimming with new crafts they did. I love how much crafty things they do. I have never had a kid do so much in preschool.

A down (and up at the same time) was reading the story of these two women and the business they started after meeting in the halls of their kids preschool in Charlotte. I found their site after seeing some pictures of a birthday party that they did for Emily’s (the bachelorette) daughter Rikki. I don’t meet many creative types here in Chapel Hill. I am surrounded by moms that are doctors or professors. That’s it. I am usually the only one in the room that wears make-up. No doubt I would love to meet another mom in the halls of Eva’s preschool instead of the ones that bust in, cut in line to grab their kid because they are SO much busier than the rest of us. Sigh.

Recently I checked back into a blog I used to read a while back, I was surprised to see that she had recently moved as well. And this post really hit home. I’m not the only one going through this. In fact I was surprised to find two other blogs I used to read had just made a major move.

Even when it’s good, it’s not easy.

Ditto…it’s not easy. My big issue right now is finding my own place in this world. As a kid, I always said I wanted to be a mom but no one ever reminded me that my kiddos will eventually grow up (mine are all in school full time-3rd, 6th,and 8th grades) and I need to figure out what I am going to do after that. Ugh…definitely not always easy!

I moved to PA 2 years ago from FL…and still have no close friends here. Yesterday was a dark rainy day and I just wanted to curl up and sleep. I would give anything to have the circle of friends I had in FL. It’s so tough to get out there and find those people who you can meet for coffee, or just sit and chat about life with. I guess there are a lot of us out there, we just need to find a way to reach out and connect!

I should not have read that blog post. Got me teary eyed, I am in that place too. Trying to find the new normal two years after our world was turned upside down. It is hard to start over, so many little pieces that have to fit together.

Glad C is feeling better. Such a sad face when he is normally so happy. The new PB stuff looks great. love the feeling of the purge!

I too am in the same boat. I teach Pilates all day and used to feel that I got my “girlfriend fix” with my clients. Now that my girls are in school full time I want some friends that are just friends, not clients. How do you go up to another mom and say “Will you be my friend?”
Your post about having days just being a mom was perfectly timed too. As I was looking at the pictures I was totally thinking that you were super mom every day and then you mentioned that those days have been few and far between…suddenly I felt like a normal mom just trying to fit it all in! Thanks for keeping it real and for the great pics.
