Last weekend we decided to head to the coast for a change of scenery. Since our usual beach is still in shutdown because of the hurricane we decided to go to Kitty Hawk on the Outer Banks. It’s slightly farther but their beaches were not hit.
We loaded up the car, dogs, and picked the kids up early from school.

But first, a few things around here. Like this cool spider by my mailbox. I have yet to see a snake (it seems like I saw them a ton the last time we lived here). But these Orb spiders are pretty common. I have seen cool looking lizards, deer, a fox, and we also have a bunny that lives in the front yard.

I got flowers delivered with this note.

Andy surprised me and took me out to dinner and to see My Favorite Murder live. I was SO excited. We had dinner at Gonza in Durham and it was amazing.

The show was so funny. Such a great night out.

Checking up on the house. It was nice to see supplies delivered. Hard to see it sit for an entire month with no one working on it.

Cole had another XC race. It was hot.

We love to take the dogs to the Eno River to walk and swim. It is clean and they love it.

Hudson turned 4. Part of me finds it hard to believe and part of me feels like he has been with us forever. Man I love that dog.

Lunch date at Eva’s school. Andy took this one as I had a dr appointment.

And then we hit the road for the beach.

It is so nice to be able to hop in the car and be at the beach in a few hours. I love being able to take our dogs.

We went to Jockey’s Ridge for the first time. So cool.

Cole got a board to sand board but the sand was too wet and didn’t really work.

And then I (finally) whipped out the big camera. Man it felt good to use it again. Here is the day at Jockey’s Ridge- big camera style. Cole even grabbed it and took a bunch. He’s got a good eye 🙂 The kids rolled down the ginormous dune, flew kites and played with Andy’s new drone.

Eva and I settled into the hotel and Andy and Cole headed out to watch the Buckeye Game. It was a good one!

Beach time refreshed all of us.

Cole wanted to go to the Wrights Brothers memorial so we took a trip there.

On the way home we stopped at the cutest little town. I loved it so much, for sure have to go back.

Once we got home we went over to do a house check. We now have brick on the foundation. Next step- framing!

Is Eva tall for her age? She’s looking so much older!
