When Summer winds down

Everything feels so weird right now. Usually this time of year I feel a little sad that Summer is winding down but also a little excited for the Fall to come. This year I don’t feel either. I just feel blah.

After having some months with all my people around today we are back down to just 4. Blake left for Asheville a few minutes ago to go back to school and I already miss his presence in the house. Austin started teaching this week in Columbus (online for now) and I am just feeling a little down.

But as weird and confusing as times are right now, this Covid virus did allow for some extra time with those that mean the most to me. We spent a month at the beach and life was really slow and nice.

And that is what I am going to focus on, not the sadness that it is over but the fact that it got to happen and I loved it.

The beach house backs up to a really cool maritime forest and I found this little scull on the other side of the picket fence.

So of course we had to put it in Blake’s bed 🙂

You had to make appointments to go to the club which actually turned out kinda nice because you were guaranteed a chair and there was plenty of room.

Watching storms roll in on the front porch with my coffee before anyone else got up.

We had all the animals with us. These two plus Zoey and Blake’s cat Leo. It was a packed house!

After dinner walks

And walking home when the sun starts to go down

My fave view

Always waiting for his ball

And taking over our bed

And then it was time to go home to Chapel Hill. Our friends son took us over to the mainland so we didn’t have to ride the ferry

And that wrapped up our month on the island. Now it’s a limbo before school officially starts in a couple week. We are online until after Christmas. Probably should just head back to the beach!
