Extreme Home Makeover

Since Andy was out of town all last week he promised the boys to take them to a movie this weekend. Of course it is now almost 4:30 on Sunday and they are ready to roll. But Andy isn’t.

When we budgeted our project we didn’t include our boys boys bathroom, with the idea that we would do it ourselves. Always good intentions I guess but I am so tired of doing projects ourselves. We have been working on houses for way too many years and I need a house that is done. Our kids need a house that is done. They hate it when Andy is busy doing work on the house, it is bad enough that he works a lot anyway- to have his home time eaten up by household stuff really stinks.

Of course I am the one that imposed the new boys bathroom deadline.  My in-laws are coming up this weekend from Texas (yay!) and there is just no way that 7 people can use one tiny bathroom.   The boys bathroom at least needs a toilet, and maybe a sink.  But of course first it has to have a floor.

Sigh, I am so ready to call up Extreme Home Makeover people to come finish my house in a week.  Now that the weather is a bit chillier and we are all inside the boys are fighting and driving each other (and me) crazy.  Really, how long can 5 people live out of two rooms.  I realized today that there is just no place to relax.  It’s a constant state of un-relaxfulness.  My biggest complaint  has always been the dust, it is everywhere I wipe it off every day and it come back every day.  But  now I am just tired.  Tired of people in my house, tired of dirt, tired of my stuff piled everywhere because there is no place to put anything, tired of walking through plastic, tired of a grumpy family, not being able to cook, not having a sink, tired of not having a home and/or a normal life.

I am not complaining- really I’m not.  Look at my beautiful new shower

And the deck off my master bedroom

All good, just getting seriously worried we won’t be wrapping this up before it’s time to decorate for Christmas.  My friend looked around my house today and said, “well I’m not going to say that there is absolutely no way they will finish this in the next 4-5 weeks because I am just too good of a friend but…..”

  1. The shower is gorgeous!
    I’m sure as much as you keep your mind focused on how wonderful it will all be when it’s all completed, it doesn’t take away the upheaval and inconvenience. We had a small-scale kitchen remodel over a four-week timeframe this summer and I was pretty cranky by the time it was all over–and that was just one room!

  2. I cant wait till its all done. At least you get an awesome shower! I will be so cool in the end, the hard part is waiting; obviously. Take walks to get out of the craziness when it gets super crazy. Or eat candy, that always makes me feel better. (;

  3. The shower is bee-u-tiful. While you’re in there, repeat after me: “it will be worth it, it will be worth it, it will be worth it.”

    I don’t know if that will make you feel any better, but your showering will go quicker. : )
