A couple hockey games, a soccer game, two losses, one win, two sleep-overs. What else? Not much.
I actually like when Monday rolls around and I can get back on track. Especially because I prepared for the week- I hit Dicks to pick up new cleats, mouth guards, socks- when lacrosse practice rolls around on Tuesday and then Wednesday- I will not be flying around the house trying to locate all the equipment that has been buried since last season. I HATE that. Fortunately Austin played indoor lacrosse this winter so his stuff is still in the front closet- Blake doesn’t play contact yet so he only needs his stick- that’s easy.
The hockey game Friday night was terrible. Yesterday against the Red Wings was better. The Red Wings had such amazing puck control where our guys were flopping it around and turning it over left and right. We some how pulled off a win, mostly due to amazing goalie work. It was an exciting game, probably the last one we attend this season.
I have had a fun 6 months of learning the game and all the players. Best places to sit in the Nat- we tend to stick to the lower bowl but we did do a couple games in the upper. There are good and bad things about each place.
Upper bowl annoyances are lots of kids, ice cream and popcorn everywhere, kids yelling in your ear- the seats are very close together. The siblings sitting next to me that started pummeling each other over a t-shirt that one of them caught…..
Lower bowl usually has the hot-heads. It never fails there is always someone inches away from a coronary sitting close by, red- faced and screaming. A few weeks ago a guy a few rows back yelled “Hainsey you SUCK!” every few minutes at the top of his lungs. I’m sure the players find that kind of stuff helpful.
Loved sitting in the suite for Andy’s work but it tends to be more socializing than game watching. Still… thinking Andy’s needs to negotiate that in somehow.
A few other things…
Ran into (literally) Tollefsen on the way out of the building yesterday. I didn’t realize it was him until he smiled at me and I saw his missing tooth.

The 1460 reporter always dresses like Dick Tracy, why???
The Pepsi girls get to do all the cool stuff, the Mountain Dew girls are just maids.
Getting there 30 minutes early to see warm-ups is so worth it. You get to go down to the ice and see the players up close. This is especially helpful if you have a kid that wants a blue jackets room- you can get great pictures. Many thanks to Matthew (aka Mr.Cooper) for the heads up on that one.
Gordon Biersch is my favorite place to grab dinner before the game. I get the hummus salad every time.
And finally
Monday means back to work. Which is a good thing. It also means a trip to the gym, which is also a good thing.
Happy Monday.

It’s the same feeling of anticipation when we go to the baseball games early – watching batting practice, seeing the grounds crew chalk the lines, studying the crowd as it arrives.
On one early arrival a year or so ago we were met with reps who invited us to sit in the owner’s box right by the home team dugout. (We did look like laid back fans in our team shirts and hats, obviously enjoying the pregame scene.) Great closeups and the ability to chat with the players as they came up to bat, but bad seats if you want to really watch the game. We prefer our regular upper deck seats – shade, a breeze even in the middle of the Texas summer (okay, so it may be hot air blowing, but at least something is helping evaporate the sweat off our bodies).
We are really ready for the team to come to town, no matter how they play this year. We are die-hard Rangers fans.
I hear ya- no matter how bad the CBJ play I LOVE that scrappy team! I have also found that when we have seats down on the ice we can’t see what is happening on the other end.
Ha, it seems everyone has a funny story with OKT, mine involves Rick Nash, in the locker room. But, you know whatever.
I HATE when people yell “*Insert players name* you suck” I just don’t understand why they do it. It makes me mad. That’s all 🙂
There’s a guy that sits up in the 3rd level near our seats at the baseball games (see Mom’s comment above) who always comes by himself, claps throughout the game (we call him The Clapper and had the misfortune to get some seats in front of him once – never again), and ALWAYS yells to the team. Not necessarily the “you suck” comments, but pretty much telling the Rangers how to play. Now, first off I’m sure they can’t hear him. And secondly, you think they are going to say “Hey, The Clapper in section 326 says we need to play ball better. Guess we better do that!”?
The clapper, that’s a crack-up.
I am going to yell that next time,”the clapper says you need to play better!!”
Bet it will work.
People are strange.
