I have been trying to figure out what kind of porch swing I want for my screened porch. I have seen ones like this before and I love love love them.
I just got this Lowes Creative Ideas magazine in the mail with this on the cover. I haven’t even opened it yet but I am hoping it lists the supplies and a how to. Looks pretty simple to make.

Good for when you want to lay out there and read a book. Not very comfortable if several people want to sit on it and enjoy the porch and the view. I think it would make cool bed in a kids room, like the picture shows. Talk about being rocked to sleep…. wonderful!
I love this too, I think I saw one of these on the Pottery Barn website. I have the porch, all screened it and everything but here in Louisiana you wouldn’t really be wanting to lay outside for very long in the summer to read or relax unless you really like a lot of humidity and 90-100 degree weather. LOL. Now in the Fall, Winter, very early Spring, this would be my cup of tea. I would love to just curl up with a book and be outside knocking the stray cats we feed off the bed while reading my newest book. 😀 I say go for it. I’ll use my big huge indoor window seat and air conditioning for now I guess. Take some photos if you do build it so I can look at it and wish for the end of the year.
Well the picture is a porch, not a kids room. But don’t worry Susan, I still have plenty of other furniture where you can sit and read a book when you come up!
The kids are excited about the bed/swing. It will be a great place for them to lay and play their ds’s or read a book or listen to ipods.
And Sandra, after living in Texas I know what you mean about spending the summer indoors. Trade-offs for a warmer winter.
that is awesome. i would live on the porch if that was my swing. good luck deciding. i have a porch swing on the porch of our vacation cabin and it’s my favorite place to be.
