Like night and day

So after the 105 degree heat and dried up grass of Texas we come home to 70 degree weather and long super long green grass.  I was so chilly yesterday that I had to close the windows.  Austin has lots of mowing to do.  At least the flowers all look good.

As for the questions about San Antonio, it is well worth it to stay on the River Walk.  It is about 10 degrees cooler down there (at least) and so nice to walk right out of the hotel and be there. The Sheraton is there on the river.

The boat tour is worth the time and money.  The older boys liked hearing all the history.
The Mexican Market is worth your time too- lots of cool stuff for great prices.  I found some really cool metal stars that I wanted to bring home and hang on my screened porch but I didn’t buy them- now wish I had.

Yes, it’s hot.  But you get used to it.

We walked the grounds of the alamo but didn’t go inside because the line was long and it was hot.

And then it was on to Austin

which always feels a bit like home

had to ride the Zilker Park train.  Only in Austin will you find a guy hanging out a Sunday afternoon playing music for the train riders

turns out his name is woode wood– he posted his info on my flickr page just moments after I posted his picture.
interesting story.

Dinner at Hula Hut

didn’t see Lance there though

But check out this guy my mother-in-law picked up while we were there (just kidding)

He was missing a few teeth and was quite the talker.

In other news… a new bag on the way and more pillows soon!

  1. Ooo – can’t wait to see the new bag! I’m hoping for a backpack purse! I’d also love to see something similar to the boxy tote – but with a zipper closure.

  2. ELISA!!! and hula hut to boot, another one of our fav places that we always visit on spring road trip. i SWEAR we could have been twins as what you have been posting is what i would frequent, OFTEN. did you make a trip to amy’s ice-cream and chuy’s??? OY, i’m so homesick for austin (texas that is) right now. i can almost smell hula hut now. i proudly display my sticker “keep austin weird” on my car here in colorado. the guy’s kilt is fabulous AND normal for austin standards – i miss that so much!!!
