{"id":1754,"date":"2009-08-06T09:28:24","date_gmt":"2009-08-06T14:28:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.elisalou.com\/blog\/?p=1754"},"modified":"2009-08-06T09:28:24","modified_gmt":"2009-08-06T14:28:24","slug":"can-i-take-your-picture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.elisalou.com\/blog\/2009\/08\/06\/can-i-take-your-picture\/","title":{"rendered":"Can I take your picture?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday we were walking around Seaside looking at stuff and this woman (young, with a little girl and husband) stopped us asked if she could take Eva&#8217;s picture.  &#8220;She is just the most beautiful baby I have ever seen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Andy was carrying her in her carseat so we said sure- let her snap a few.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/elisalou.com\/blog\/photos\/photo\/3794593745\/img_6990.html\" class=\"tt-flickr tt-flickr-Large\" title=\"IMG_6990\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2647\/3794593745_be37e981e3_b.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_6990\" width=\"924\" height=\"583\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Recently Andy and I were talking about how we are tired of everyone (including us) introducing Eva as our &#8220;adopted&#8221; daughter.  We just want her to be our daughter.<\/p>\n<p>But when people stop us and tell us how cute she is, I never know what to say.  &#8220;Thanks&#8221; doesn&#8217;t seem right, after all I am not responsible for her dna.  Although I did pick out that stinkin&#8217; cute dress \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>I love to talk about adoption and encourage others to think about it too, but I don&#8217;t want that pressure on Eva.  Sure she has no idea what we are saying now, but soon she will.  I don&#8217;t think she would like to hear, &#8220;isn&#8217;t she cute?  We adopted her&#8221; every time someone makes a comment.  In some families adoption is obvious.  And that opens the door for a lot of discussion, good and bad.  But Eva looks like Andy.  I don&#8217;t think people assume she is adopted.
