It was basically a little square before with outdated appliances and the laundry was on the right by those ugly bi-fold doors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"3000\" height=\"4000\" src=\"https:\/\/elisalou.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG_1187-3000x4000.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19637\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Andy started pulling all those useless soffits down (nothing in them) to open up the area. Busted out the penisula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"4000\" height=\"3000\" src=\"https:\/\/elisalou.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG_1189-4000x3000.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19636\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We had a gas line installed so we could convert our electric range to gas and also our wood burning fireplace to gas. We loved having fires in the fireplace but our chimney was starting to have issues and to have your house catch on fire on an island is really really scary. We have a fire department but if it spreads they have to bring more firetrucks over from the mainland (this happened a couple years ago when a house we previously stayed in burned down)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"4000\" height=\"3000\" src=\"https:\/\/elisalou.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG_1191-4000x3000.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19638\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Pete took roost on the new
