{"id":228,"date":"2007-05-25T08:55:13","date_gmt":"2007-05-25T13:55:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.elisalou.com\/blog\/2007\/05\/25\/summer-craziness\/"},"modified":"2025-04-30T13:10:40","modified_gmt":"2025-04-30T17:10:40","slug":"summer-craziness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.elisalou.com\/blog\/2007\/05\/25\/summer-craziness\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer Craziness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"tt-flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/elisalou.com\/blog\/photos\/photo\/513388083\/c.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" border=\"0\" alt=\"c\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/227\/513388083_2c650403f5.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It has begun.\u00a0 It started earlier this week with the end of preschool for Cole.\u00a0 For this year anyway.\u00a0 A party that included a picnic on the Village Green with hotdogs, face painting, flower planting, and ending up with singing in the chapel.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"tt-flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/elisalou.com\/blog\/photos\/photo\/513388091\/c.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" border=\"0\" alt=\"c\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/229\/513388091_a442c3f1cb.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cole&#8217;s little buddy looked pretty cute in his hat<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"tt-flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/elisalou.com\/blog\/photos\/photo\/513388099\/cs_friend.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" border=\"0\" alt=\"c's friend\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/208\/513388099_05cc575960.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Both boys were a little grumpy, it was hot and they were tired.\u00a0 It&#8217;s hard being three and four.<\/p>\n<p>For Mother&#8217;s Day I got a small digital camera that has become a life saver.\u00a0 I often didn&#8217;t want to haul around my big digital rebel so this tiny camera saves the day.\u00a0 It fits in my pocket.<\/p>\n<p>My boys have loved photography forever and they love to take picture with the small camera.\u00a0 Much easier for smaller hands.\u00a0 Blake took this one of Austin and I on the hammock.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"tt-flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/elisalou.com\/blog\/photos\/photo\/513388039\/E_and_A.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" border=\"0\" alt=\"E and A\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/220\/513388039_0c0362a15f.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I am hoping it&#8217;s an optical illusion and that my thighs really aren&#8217;t that big but just in case I am skipping lunch today.<\/p>\n<p>Austin took this picture of his crazy dog<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"tt-flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/elisalou.com\/blog\/photos\/photo\/513388045\/wild_dog.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" border=\"0\" alt=\"wild dog\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/200\/513388045_2abca49940.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Love it.\u00a0 She looks like mad dog.\u00a0 Like mad crazy.\u00a0 See our old dog Astro, all he has to do is raise his lip, doesn&#8217;t have to make a peep, and she hightails it in the other direction.\u00a0 He is so old.\u00a0 We found him on the streets of Austin when he was about 8 months old and he has been such a good dog, we think he is half coyote.\u00a0 My neighbors are amazed at how agile he still is, we think one day he will just drop.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of dogs, my dogs have been doing crazy things lately.\u00a0 Yesterday out contractor came out to stake off where the addition is to go and we laughed about how the little pink flags wouldn&#8217;t last more than 5 minutes with Cole around.\u00a0 But it wasn&#8217;t Cole.\u00a0 It was Shiloh that pulled them all out of the ground.\u00a0 Then Austin informed me that Barley, our huge Golden has been laying in the hammock.\u00a0 I have yet to see it, how she gets in there without tipping and landing on her head&#8230;.I hope I have my camera nearby.<\/p>\n<p>June is a crazy month for us but I absolutely love it.\u00a0 End of the school year, Supergames, end of the year parties, and 3, count em&#8217; THREE birthdays for three little boys I know and love.\u00a0 First one is the middle child, 2nd one is the baby, and the third is 1st.\u00a0 Confused?\u00a0 I am so excited because this year Austin is turning 10.\u00a0 Ten is such a great age and such a big big birthday.\u00a0 I was SOOO excited when I turned 10.\u00a0 Double Digits!.\u00a0 AND, in honor of his tenth birthday- Austin is going to get to celebrate it in Austin!\u00a0 He has been wanting to check out the city that he was named after for a long time.\u00a0 The last time he was there was before we had Cole so it has been a while.\u00a0 We didn&#8217;t think we were going to be able to make &#8220;cousin camp&#8221; this year.\u00a0 Andy is so busy at work he just didn&#8217;t think he could take a week off at this point but the more we thought about it, the more we realized that we all needed a break.\u00a0 SO we are off to Texas for a week at the beach with my two sister-in-laws and their families and my mother and father in-law, with a few days in Austin tacked onto the end.<\/p>\n<p>And here are the sites we plan to see with the birthday boy<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chuys.com\/\">Chuys<\/a>, the place were Andy and I worked while in college and where we met.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.trudys.com\/\">Trudys<\/a>, more good tex-mex food.\u00a0 We ate countless black bean tacos there.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/austin.about.com\/cs\/tours\/l\/blvt_a_mbonnell.htm\">Mt Bonnell<\/a>&#8211; where Andy proposed to me<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.texasoutside.com\/bartonpool.htm\">Barton Springs<\/a>&#8211; we got our old Lab Bailey (now deceased) in the parking lot of Barton Springs.\u00a0 A man and woman were giving them away out of the back of their station wagon.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/austin.about.com\/cs\/bats\/p\/bats.htm\">Congress Ave Bats<\/a>&#8211; ok this sounds really creepy but it is actually very very cool.\u00a0 People bring picnics every night to sit on the shore of the Colorado River to watch the bats fly out from under the Congress bridge.\u00a0 They all come out at once and it is amazing.\u00a0 The boys are going to LOVE this.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/images.google.com\/imgres?imgurl=http:\/\/www.hill-country.net\/lakes\/laketravis\/laketravis6.jpg&#038;imgrefurl=http:\/\/www.hill-country.net\/lakes\/laketravis\/&#038;h=216&#038;w=288&#038;sz=13&#038;hl=en&#038;start=15&#038;sig2=i4rhfjjsH6OCQSqvBbyUWA&#038;um=1&#038;tbnid=SIjG3KR1ImULRM:&#038;tbnh=86&#038;tbnw=115&#038;ei=YuZWRpPuK4bYiQHKjYyCCQ&#038;prev=\/images%3Fq%3Dlake%2Btravis%26svnum%3D10%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official\">Lake Travis<\/a>&#8211; spent many hours swimming in this lake<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hulahut.com\/about_us.html\">Hula Hut<\/a>&#8211; one of the many cool places to eat on the lake<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.utexas.edu\/\">University of Texas<\/a>&#8211; where Andy and I went to school and where Austin says he will wear a Buckeye shirt when he visits<\/p>\n<p>And if we ever go and have the time&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.riversportstubes.com\/\">tubing<\/a>&#8211;
