{"id":252,"date":"2007-07-09T21:17:18","date_gmt":"2007-07-10T02:17:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.elisalou.com\/blog\/2007\/07\/09\/middle-road\/"},"modified":"2025-04-30T13:10:51","modified_gmt":"2025-04-30T17:10:51","slug":"middle-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.elisalou.com\/blog\/2007\/07\/09\/middle-road\/","title":{"rendered":"Middle Road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The other day I saw a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/\">cool book<\/a> link on <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/aliedwards.typepad.com\/_a_\/\">Ali&#8217;s blog<\/a>.\u00a0 Right now I have a good stack of books to read but this looks like such a great place to go when you need a little help.\u00a0 It&#8217;s also a great way to chronicle the books you have read and which ones you would share with friends.<\/p>\n<p>Last night I finished reading <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Nineteen-Minutes-Novel-Jodi-Picoult\/dp\/0743496728\/ref=pd_bbs_1\/104-7403263-2676715?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books&#038;qid=1184015435&#038;sr=8-1\">Nineteen Minutes<\/a>.\u00a0 I have\u00a0 read all of Jodi Picoults books.\u00a0 Some are better than others but\u00a0 this one was one of her best.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a haunting tale of a kid that was bullied all his life and ends up shooting up a school Columbine style.\u00a0 But it also talks about life on the other end. About a girl that was friends with this boy until she started hanging out with the popular crowd.\u00a0 About how she had to ditch him and start to make fun of him when she joined the &#8220;in&#8221; group.\u00a0 It talks about how she often felt like a fraud, how hard it was to keep up with being popular, how one false move and her &#8220;friends&#8221; would turn on her.\u00a0 How true is that??\u00a0 I remember high school, don&#8217;t you?\u00a0 I often look back and wish that I was one of the &#8220;neutral&#8221; kids, the ones that walked the middle road- friends with everyone.\u00a0 My husband was one of those kids and I truly believe that is why he so successful in his career.\u00a0 He plays well with others, everyone.\u00a0 Because let&#8217;s face it, don&#8217;t we all know adults who are still trying to fit into the group, at the expense of others?<br \/>\nFortunately I have finally learned to walk the middle road and I am hoping to teach my children to do the same.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The other day I saw a cool book link on Ali&#8217;s blog.\u00a0 Right now I have a good stack of books to read but this looks like such a great place to go when you need a little help.\u00a0 It&#8217;s also a great way to chronicle the books you have read and which ones you would share with friends.
