{"id":2615,"date":"2010-01-19T08:52:39","date_gmt":"2010-01-19T13:52:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.elisalou.com\/blog\/?p=2615"},"modified":"2025-04-30T13:15:23","modified_gmt":"2025-04-30T17:15:23","slug":"19365","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.elisalou.com\/blog\/2010\/01\/19\/19365\/","title":{"rendered":"19\/365"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday was my birthday and I am requesting a do-over.\u00a0 Can I do that?<\/p>\n<p>Eva and I have been sick with the crud that took Blake out all of last week.\u00a0 She has it worse than me I think.\u00a0 She cried all day yesterday.\u00a0 I couldn&#8217;t put her down.\u00a0 The kids were home from school&#8230; it was challenging.\u00a0 I had to cancel dinner with friends, between her grumpiness and my exhaustion and sore throat it just seemed too much.<\/p>\n<p>By 6:30pm, when I sat on the couch and started getting a little teary, Austin came and sat down and said, &#8220;are you sad?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A little.&#8221;\u00a0 He asked why, I told him it had been a long day, on top of a long week last week.\u00a0 That I couldn&#8217;t put Eva down to go to the bathroom without her screaming.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I will watch Eva for a while.&#8221;\u00a0 He said.<\/p>\n<p>Which was so sweet.\u00a0 But instead I took her up and put her in the tub, where she tried to swim again and made herself so upset by face planting in the water.<\/p>\n<p>Cole peeps in to see if all was ok.\u00a0 He said, &#8220;have you had a good birthday?&#8221; which made me smile a little.\u00a0 I mean he was here, did it look good??<\/p>\n<p>So I said, &#8220;well nobody gave me a card&#8230;..&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And he was on it.\u00a0 He made me a card, made all his brothers sign it.\u00a0 And then 2 more showed up from the other brothers.\u00a0 Blake seemed a little teary that he forgot.<\/p>\n<p>Andy comes home, and brings some take-out (and to his credit, he sent me flowers).\u00a0 Cole finished eating and said, &#8220;where is your birthday cake?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Good question.\u00a0 Good thing DQ is only a couple blocks away.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"tt-flickr tt-flickr-Large\" title=\"IMG_4494\" href=\"https:\/\/elisalou.com\/blog\/photos\/photo\/4287314085\/img_4494.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2701\/4287314085_5c68e7275a_b.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_4494\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Andy put the candles on it- looks like I turned 29.\u00a0 Again.\u00a0 He also added the palm trees- because I spent most of the day dreaming I was on a beach in Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>He told me that I needed to snap out of my funk.<\/p>\n<p>So we ate cake, and I felt better.<\/p>\n<p>And then he rocked Eva for two hours straight while she cried and cried.<\/p>\n<p>I layed in my bed and watched the bachelor- holy crap.\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t watched that show since the first season or so (when the Firestone dude was on)<\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t think Eva would ever stop crying.\u00a0 And I didn&#8217;t think she would stay asleep once she finally did.<\/p>\n<p>But you know what?\u00a0 She stopped.\u00a0 And she went to sleep.\u00a0 And slept all night.<\/p>\n<p>And she just let me vacuum the floor and didn&#8217;t cry.<\/p>\n<p>Today is a new day!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday was my birthday and I am requesting a do-over.\u00a0 Can I do that?
