Birthday Eva!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I know.\u00a0 It really hasn&#8217;t been a year, has it??<\/p>\n<p>It has.<\/p>\n<p>Last year on this day we got a call from Jane, &#8220;I just took ___ in for her 36 week check-up and I think her water broke&#8221;.\u00a0 Eva was born a few hours later that Monday night.\u00a0 4 weeks early.\u00a0 5 lbs. 10 oz.<\/p>\n<p>All of a sudden there was a tiny cellphone picture in my email box, of a baby all connected to wires and oxygen.\u00a0 I wish I had saved that picture but somehow it got lost in the shuffle.<\/p>\n<p>I made a mad scramble to get kid coverage, pack a bag, and flew out to SLC by myself.<\/p>\n<p>By the time I got there on Wednesday,\u00a0 she was off the oxygen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/elisalou.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/e.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3194\" title=\"e\" completely overwhelmed.<\/p>\n<p>And when I saw this tiny little baby I was terrified.\u00a0 She was soooo small.\u00a0 My boys were all so big at birth.\u00a0 And their births, because I had all c-sections, were a blur.<\/p>\n<p>But here I was meeting my new daughter for the first time, in a preemie unit.\u00a0 A total stranger.<\/p>\n<p>I carefully picked her up.<\/p>\n<p><a nightmare.\u00a0 The bottle was so big (the tiny ready mades the hospital had)\u00a0 She barely ate anything, we had to keep track.\u00a0 She stayed in the hospital for a week.\u00a0 Her fave nurse and I would always chant to her &#8220;eat and grow, eat and grow&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And grow she did.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/elisalou.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/e2.jpg\"><img Probably a good thing so I don&#8217;t have a super long post.<\/p>\n<p>but just for fun, I took a couple quick shots of her when Blake got her out of her crib this morning- the hair, rock star.\u00a0 She seems to know today is a special day.\u00a0 The boys are so excited.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"tt-flickr tt-flickr-Large\" title=\"IMG_7690\"
