{"id":576,"date":"2008-08-15T09:48:33","date_gmt":"2008-08-15T14:48:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.elisalou.com\/blog\/2008\/08\/15\/tackle-football\/"},"modified":"2008-08-15T09:48:33","modified_gmt":"2008-08-15T14:48:33","slug":"tackle-football","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.elisalou.com\/blog\/2008\/08\/15\/tackle-football\/","title":{"rendered":"Tackle Football"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This post will be for the Grandparents- Your oldest boy Grandchild started tackle football last night.\u00a0 It was not the first practice but it was the first one in full gear, the first night of &#8220;hitting&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3094\/2765616562_50edbc3155.jpg?v=0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here is Matthew and Austin in front of Matthews house before practice.\u00a0 They could barely fit in the truck with those shoulder pads.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3252\/2765617938_12096aba04.jpg?v=0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here is one of their coaches on the right.\u00a0 They have three, all former football players- one even played for the Buckeyes.\u00a0 Of course the boys love that.\u00a0 This is the first year that we have had coaches that don&#8217;t have kids on the team.\u00a0 They are doing it because they love football.\u00a0 Which is cool.\u00a0 They also knew nothing about any of the players, so everyone is starting out the same. Which is also cool.<br \/>\nThey have been doing nothing but learning drills, lots and lots of drills.\u00a0 So far I am loving this coach, he is tough- but good.\u00a0 Last night he requested that we not rush the field if we see our kid go down hard.\u00a0 That &#8220;most likely&#8221; they would be fine.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<br \/>\nMy biggest concern with Austin playing football is his size.\u00a0 While he is one of the tallest on the team, I think there are only two kids that weigh less.\u00a0 He is a stick.\u00a0 Not exactly football material.\u00a0 If it was Blake (who is solid- two years younger than Austin and 10 lbs heavier) I wouldn&#8217;t be so concerned.<\/p>\n<p>But Austin loves football.\u00a0 Loves it.\u00a0 So here we go, and he knows not to complain to me if he is hurting after practice.\u00a0 So far he is holding his own.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3033\/2764801883_76aa3febc8.jpg?v=0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Lining up to hit.\u00a0 There is only one 6th grader on the team- the rest are 5th graders, Austin was usually paired against him.\u00a0 This is Austin on the right.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3101\/2764805605_78c87a177b.jpg?v=0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The oldest and youngest.\u00a0 Cole thinks he wants to play football now- he likes all the tackling.\u00a0 Of course.<\/p>\n<p>And in other news- my brother and family are hitting the road tonight for their big move from Cincy to Houston.\u00a0 We will miss you, but come visit (only if you put in a pool\u00a0 :))\u00a0 Drive safely!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This post will be for the Grandparents- Your oldest boy Grandchild started tackle football last night.\u00a0 It was not the first practice but it was the first one in full gear, the first night of &#8220;hitting&#8221;.
