{"id":580,"date":"2008-08-18T17:36:53","date_gmt":"2008-08-18T22:36:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.elisalou.com\/blog\/2008\/08\/18\/more-food\/"},"modified":"2008-08-18T17:36:53","modified_gmt":"2008-08-18T22:36:53","slug":"more-food","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.elisalou.com\/blog\/2008\/08\/18\/more-food\/","title":{"rendered":"More food"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Keep the good ideas coming.<\/p>\n<p>As for kids and veggies and fruits, we have been all over the map.\u00a0 My kids have always started out great, well some better than others, and gone downhill fast when exposed to school, friends, etc.<\/p>\n<p>But slowly they are coming around, Austin especially.\u00a0 He wants to try new stuff.\u00a0 Blake still has his standards- grapes, apples, bananas and then a few things like hummus.\u00a0 Cole is pretty good, if it is HIS idea.\u00a0 And he&#8217;s inconsistent- some days loves carrots, some days hates them.<\/p>\n<p>But I am sneaky and I hide it in their food.\u00a0 My most favorite thing is to mix a jar of organic carrot baby food in the pasta sauce.\u00a0 They have gotten so used to it that they complain if it isn&#8217;t in there- of course they have no idea!\u00a0 I have another one where I stir fry cauliflower in their chicken and rice- it looks the same.\u00a0 I love being sneaky like that.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight I tried a new recipe, you can find it <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/allrecipes.com\/Recipe\/Greek-Pasta-Salad-with-Roasted-Vegetables-and-Feta\/Detail.aspx?strb=1\">here<\/a>.\u00a0 It was sooooo good.<\/p>\n<p>I made a few substitutions based on what I had on hand<\/p>\n<p>I used two red peppers<\/p>\n<p>no eggplant<\/p>\n<p>no arugala<\/p>\n<p>a little more balsamic vinegar<\/p>\n<p>a little more feta<\/p>\n<p>zucchini instead of squash<\/p>\n<p>fresh tomatoes instead of sundried.<\/p>\n<p>whole grain pasta<\/p>\n<p>added pine nuts<\/p>\n<p>This recipe is going into my favorites.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Keep the good ideas coming.
