{"id":586,"date":"2008-08-25T09:58:52","date_gmt":"2008-08-25T14:58:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.elisalou.com\/blog\/2008\/08\/25\/see-what-happens-when-i-try-to-be-a-good-dog-owner\/"},"modified":"2008-08-25T09:58:52","modified_gmt":"2008-08-25T14:58:52","slug":"see-what-happens-when-i-try-to-be-a-good-dog-owner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.elisalou.com\/blog\/2008\/08\/25\/see-what-happens-when-i-try-to-be-a-good-dog-owner\/","title":{"rendered":"See what happens when I try to be a good dog owner??"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well actually I am not going to show you because it is pretty gross.<\/p>\n<p>Because the weather has taken a turn for the better (ie not so hot) and because Barley is getting way too large around the middle I decided to skip the rec center and take her out for a run.<\/p>\n<p>Barley is a great dog<em> to walk<\/em> because she doesn&#8217;t need a leash. But you have to watch her because if we get anywhere near our street she heads for home like a horse heads for the barn.<\/p>\n<p>Running with her is a little more challenging because she weaves- and she trips me.\u00a0 Well today 5 minutes into our run, down I went.\u00a0 As I sat there checking out the damage, two bleeding knees and a really gross bleeding palm.\u00a0 She turned and looked at me and I could tell she was thinking &#8220;you really are a clumsy girl, don&#8217;t you think we would both be better off if we just went back home and sat on the couch?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So I wiped the blood on my sweat pants (so glad I wasn&#8217;t wearing shorts!), turned the ipod to Social Distortion (loud), and off we went.\u00a0 I wore her out.<\/p>\n<p>Wish I could say that it was all her fault.\u00a0 But I obviously have balance issues (according to the Wii) and my legs are a battleground of scars, I have fallen chasing dogs, chasing kids, and even once in a bagel parking lot, I tripped while carrying Blake (he was one)- that one was bad because my arms were mangled from trying to protect his head.\u00a0 He was fine.<\/p>\n<p>So there you go, my life as a clumsy girl.<\/p>\n<p>Off to wash the blood off my ipod.\u00a0 Yuck, I know.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well actually I am not going to show you because it is pretty gross.
