As you can imagine, trying to talk about a book with a group of 9 and 10 years who spent half the time wrestling on the floor was a bit of a challenge but all in all it went well and they did good<\/p>\n<p>They read the book <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/The-Giver-Quartet-Lois-Lowry\/dp\/0547995660\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1349733390&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=the+giver\">The Giver<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I will be honest.  I didn&#8217;t read the book.  I somehow ran out of time.  So I read the cliff notes online.  Bad.  I know.<\/p>\n<p>I just got an email from Cole&#8217;s Spanish teacher.  Turns out my little midwestern 3rd grader is not so hot with his Spanish (it was not taught in elementary school in Ohio).  So we have to watch some videos.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9bFRTm4J7PM?list=PL10B47765F0D069A2&amp;hl=en_US\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>There are a bunch of them.  They suck you in.  You will find yourself singing along.<\/p>\n<p>All three boys are having some &#8220;growing pains&#8221; with school in Chapel Hill.  It&#8217;s a bit harder than it was in Ohio.  I have very mixed feelings about the whole thing.<\/p>\n<p>One thing that the moms talked about last night was the fact that Chapel Hill is SO hard that the kids that would normally be in the top 10% aren&#8217;t.  And therefore can&#8217;t get into UNC and Duke.  It stinks. Some even move out of the district so that their kids have a much better chance of getting in.<\/p>\n<p>Sorta feel like we did them a disservice- putting them in the best district in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Moving on.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s Cold here today.  I don&#8217;t like cold.  I turned the heat on.<\/p>\n<p>And because every post needs a pic- even if it&#8217;s just an iPhone one&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p>Looks like our trampoline needs a new net.
