Waiting….

Posted in ElisaLou at 12:50 pm by Elisa

still waiting on word about my Zoey girl.  We opted to have her surgery done with a laser which is supposed to be faster and easier on her during and after.

Cole and I went over to Petsmart to pick her up a toy this morning.  Her favorite toy is this yucky cow

So we picked up a new one

waiting for her to come home.

And the cool thing is that this one came with two friends

They look pretty cute with the Amy Butler pillows!

Miss Z

Just left for the Animal Hospital to have her puppy maker taken out.  We miss her already.

Shiloh, in a rare moment of sisterly love (she is usually the bossy big sister even though technically she is a middle child) suggested that we pick her up a few new toys.  I was thinking maybe a new dog bed but Shiloh pointed out that they prefer to sleep on the couch.  Good point, glad I didn’t waste my money.

I am reading a good book right now called Walking in circles before lying down.

It’s about a girl that has a dog that starts to talk to her.  Right up my alley.  I always talk to the dogs and tell the boys things that I think they would be saying if they could talk.  The boys even do it now- Shiloh is the easiest because she thinks she is the princess of the family- but she is just a trash digging hound-dog mutt which makes it even more funny.  So we make up all kinds of funny things that she is thinking and would say if she could.

Lots of work to do today to keep my mind off my little Z girl.  Hope all goes well.  Can’t wait to have her back home tonight snuggled up watching the season premiere of Lost.

Good to know I’m covered

Posted in ElisaLou at 6:52 pm by Elisa

Just pulled up MSN and saw this.  Good to know that in case I get infected with bird flu in the next week I will be covered.  Instead I have been looking forward to a date with a bottle of Nyquil all day.  $80 well spent for that Tamiflu.  I shouldn’t complain, it probably would have been worse but after two nights with no sleep I am a bit cranky about the whole thing.  Hoping Blake goes back to school tomorrow.  By mid afternoon he was jamming on the Wii Guitar Hero and I was wondering what was so bad about him losing his voice.  Cole is still feeling crummy and came from his rec center class, dropped on the couch and slept for the next three hours.  Unheard of.

Watched the All Star game last night and the feeling around these parts is that Rick Nash got ripped off by not getting the MVP.  But I won’t go into that for fear this starts to sound more like a hockey groupie blog- but….ask my mother-in-law, every girl needs her sport (hers happens to be baseball, the Texas Rangers is her team).  Hoping the gang is all better by this weekend’s game, if not we will be coughing all over the arena district.

Still alive, barely

Posted in ElisaLou at 5:28 pm by Elisa

Blake managed to stay our of the ER today but Cole spent the whole day puking.  Starting to feel like we can’t catch a break here.  The good news is that Austin is still holding strong and Andy is on the mend.

I am starting to get the urge to put my house back together, which is good.  I have been waiting for the urge to come back.  I was on remodel overload, much like the amusement park overload I experienced last week.  Too loud, too much movement, too many days.  Don’t get me wrong, I had a great time, but I had enough.  Now the warm weather…..that I could go back to.

Not sure if I ever posted pictures of Austin’s Buckeye room but now Blake is asking for a BlueJackets room.  Blake doesn’t play hockey but that’s what makes watching it and being a fan even more fun- for me anyway.  I get my fair share of football, lacrosse, soccer, and basketball.  Every weekend.  Hockey is just for fun for us.  While searching Ebay for some autographed posters of the players it dawned on me that I could just take him to their next autograph signing which is next Sunday.  In fact, my friend Sandra told me that I should go up to Rick Nash (with a pillowcase or something….) and say, “can you sign this for my son?  His name is Elisa.  Oh and can you make sure that you write “LOVE, Rick” ???

Update

Posted in ElisaLou at 3:55 pm by Elisa

after spending all morning at the doctors office and then children’s to get x-rays we are back home.   I took Blake and Cole to their pediatrician this morning.  She was concerned that Blake wasn’t getting enough air, and that he needed another dose of epinephrine.  She gave me the choice of going back to the ER to get the epi or going to Children’s to get an x-ray of his throat and then maybe on to the ER from there.   I chose the  x-ray with the hope that  he wasn’t  as bad as she thought.  Fortunately that’s what happened.  The x-ray showed that he has a bit of swelling but not enough to go back to the ER.  A script for oral steroids (that we may or may not use) and we were off.

Cole is down and out but she wants his little body to fight it off on his own, and I am ok with that.  He has been sleeping on and off.  Andy is dragging and stayed home from work.

I am off for a soak in the tub, order pizza, and watch a movie.  Whew.

From barefeet to Uggs

Amazing that in two hours we can go from tropical breezes to frigid temps!  To make matters worse, after Andy (who always gets a flu shot but missed it at work this year) got a positive flu test- three more of us started coming down with it.  Fortunately my doctor called me in a script for Tamiflu down to Orlando  so I am trying to nip mine in the bud.  I can’t get sick. Blake and Cole were not so lucky.  Despite the fact that Blake got the fluMist this year he came down with it anyway.  Cole had a blazing fever before we got on the plane to head home last night and the security people felt sorry for me and let me carry on my liquid Motrin.  He ended up sleeping the whole way home which was great.  We got in 10pm, picked Zoey up and drove on home.  Caught the last few minutes of the Bluejackets game, a win against Chicago.  As everyone started settling into bed Blake was sounding more and more croupy (he has chronic croup) so into the hot shower he went.  When that didn’t work Andy took him outside into the subzero weather.  That didn’t work.  He started to panic because he really couldn’t breathe so Andy rushed him off to the ER.  4 hours and a few breathing treatments later he was on his way back home and to bed.  Cole and I were up as he was pretty delirious from his fever and I was trying to make him take more Motrin.  What a mess.

Austin woke up feeling bad so they all stayed home from school.  Blake can’t stop coughing and his voice is gone.  We are off to the doctor to hopefully get some major cough medicine for him and some Tamiflu for Cole- if it isn’t too late.

All in all between dr trips in Orlando, Er visits here, and now two more trips in, plus all the meds- well let’s just say we could have funded another vacation.

Get your flu shots people!  Lesson learned.

Should I stay or should I go?

Posted in ElisaLou at 9:02 am by Elisa

Seems like every time we go on vacation we have the “maybe we should stay a few more days” talk. But in the end we have decided to head back home. The boys miss the dogs and the comforts of home. I am going to miss relaxing in the hot tub while they swim every evening. But I am tired. And I have amusement park overload. Tuesday while at Universal Blake and Andy decided to ride The Hulk. A huge roller coaster that did no less than 5 loops. Not to be out-done by an 8 year old, me and my mother-in-law decided to go on it too. Big mistake. The coaster itself was scary and fun but it was the after effects that did me in. I really felt like I could puke for two days. Blake and Andy were of course fine.

Today we head back home, Andy has some kind of flu so it should make for an interesting trip.

Tired

Posted in ElisaLou at 8:18 pm by Elisa

Hit Universal Studios today.  It was less crowded and easier on all of us to get around.  The boys had a good time, although the wait time was still long.  I think we will be better off the next few days since today was holiday.

My favorite ride of the day was probably the Mummy ride.  Least favorite was the MIB ride which we waited in line for 45 minutes.  They measured Cole at the start of the line (he is right at 40 inches- the requirement).  They measured him again half way through, same thing- 40 inches.  We get to the very end of the line, about to get on- and they tell us he has to be OVER 40 inches.  I was mad, I could have taken him elsewhere to play during that time.  Grandma stayed off with him, he cried- saying why did they say ok  (twice) and then no?  The ride was a bunch of spinning which I hate so I won’t be doing that again.

So after that it was over to the kiddie area for Cole

Everything always has to be a stunt for this kid

Austin and Grandad, trying not to get wet

Blake getting wet

Trying to take pictures and talk to our contractor on the phone who was back home in our hosue

Happy Boys
