Recently I discovered a group on flickr that has lot of textures that you can “layer” onto your photos. It is so addictive.
Here are a few I did today- the texture that I am using is a photo of a bus-stop window (with rain).

Me and my little guy- he is finally starting to feel better but still falling asleep on his dinner every night.
Blake took this picture.

Attack of the killer hound.

I love the way that the texture gives the photos an instant vintage feel.

Andy took this picture of the flag at the boys school during the blizzard of 08

Because look what the UPS man just handed to me

It was time for an upgrade, and since it is business related….well I can make all the excuses I want but the bottom line is sometimes you just have to treat yourself. So treat myself I did. And it feels good.
Of course the first shots to are of Shiloh- the most photogenic dog eh-vah.

and a little bit spoiled too

Happy Friday

The front door swings open and in comes boys (mine and usually one or two extra). The house gets loud and the fridge gets raided.

I am always so happy to see them again.

Bad for messy dog paws and swollen river
but
Good for going to sleep with my arms tightly wrapped around a feverish 4 year old. We listen to the thumps on the roof in the darkness…
distracting him from his discomfort, pulling me back to a place where all that matters is being Mama, gently rubbing his hair.
Feel better my sweet baby

I have had my eye on Catherine’s cool stuff for a while now.

She has a funky little store in Ann Arbor called Red Shoes and an online store as well
The house paintings are so cool

I recently bought a repro of the one on the left

I could go on and on with pictures of her shop and home

Color, color, color

I want to live in her store-

And if you want a peak into her life- she also has a blog.
Enjoy

Dinner at the pub- with a group of bagpipe playing fireman. Only in Ohio will you hear the Ohio State Fight song done on bagpipes.
Home to a round of Guitar Hero- I stink, the boys rock. Maybe I will practice while they are at school.

A couple hockey games, a soccer game, two losses, one win, two sleep-overs. What else? Not much.
I actually like when Monday rolls around and I can get back on track. Especially because I prepared for the week- I hit Dicks to pick up new cleats, mouth guards, socks- when lacrosse practice rolls around on Tuesday and then Wednesday- I will not be flying around the house trying to locate all the equipment that has been buried since last season. I HATE that. Fortunately Austin played indoor lacrosse this winter so his stuff is still in the front closet- Blake doesn’t play contact yet so he only needs his stick- that’s easy.
The hockey game Friday night was terrible. Yesterday against the Red Wings was better. The Red Wings had such amazing puck control where our guys were flopping it around and turning it over left and right. We some how pulled off a win, mostly due to amazing goalie work. It was an exciting game, probably the last one we attend this season.
I have had a fun 6 months of learning the game and all the players. Best places to sit in the Nat- we tend to stick to the lower bowl but we did do a couple games in the upper. There are good and bad things about each place.
Upper bowl annoyances are lots of kids, ice cream and popcorn everywhere, kids yelling in your ear- the seats are very close together. The siblings sitting next to me that started pummeling each other over a t-shirt that one of them caught…..
Lower bowl usually has the hot-heads. It never fails there is always someone inches away from a coronary sitting close by, red- faced and screaming. A few weeks ago a guy a few rows back yelled “Hainsey you SUCK!” every few minutes at the top of his lungs. I’m sure the players find that kind of stuff helpful.
Loved sitting in the suite for Andy’s work but it tends to be more socializing than game watching. Still… thinking Andy’s needs to negotiate that in somehow.
A few other things…
Ran into (literally) Tollefsen on the way out of the building yesterday. I didn’t realize it was him until he smiled at me and I saw his missing tooth.

The 1460 reporter always dresses like Dick Tracy, why???
The Pepsi girls get to do all the cool stuff, the Mountain Dew girls are just maids.
Getting there 30 minutes early to see warm-ups is so worth it. You get to go down to the ice and see the players up close. This is especially helpful if you have a kid that wants a blue jackets room- you can get great pictures. Many thanks to Matthew (aka Mr.Cooper) for the heads up on that one.
Gordon Biersch is my favorite place to grab dinner before the game. I get the hummus salad every time.
And finally
Monday means back to work. Which is a good thing. It also means a trip to the gym, which is also a good thing.
Happy Monday.

My mother-in-law sent me this funny clip today.
What does your purse say about you?
I am most definitely the schizo and I have actually done that purse within a purse deal when I travel. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that I change my purse more than my underwear though- when your husband is an exec for a major undie corporation you tend to have a lot of underwear too!
