I think I have mentioned before that starbucks is a good 20 minutes away from the farm, but it’s a nice drive and since I leave the kids behind with Grandma all is good.
Except today when I was driving back and found two big dogs in the middle of the road about to be hit by a car.
Oh and it was raining.
So I stopped my car in the middle of the road, put on my hazards, and tried to coax them into the car. They were big, wet, muddy, and smelly. Of course.
They wouldn’t get in, but they were friendly and had tags. About this time a guy in a truck pulls up and offers to help. He gives me a raincoat and we tie the dogs onto a rope, call the owner, and direct traffic while we wait for the owner to show up.
I gave the dogs a little lecture about playing in traffic on rainy days, meanwhile the Lab chewed through the rope, he was big crazy puppy.
The grateful owner arrived and all was well.
Good deed done.

there has also been so extreme sliding which involves going down head first

There are also some extreme sunflowers

these things are about 10ft tall at least
There is extremely bad hair- this girl needs a brush

Then there are some extremely silly dogs

Here we go, round two with the bunnies. We went through this last summer as some of you might remember.
A couple days ago I found Astro under the trampoline with a small critter in his mouth. Being the geriatric dog that he is, he couldn’t here me when I yelled for him to drop it. He just stared at me as I ran towards him and eventually let it fall to the ground where it lay squirming. I put him and the other dogs inside and went back to check out what he had and if it was still alive.
It was a baby bunny, on it’s back flopping around. I knew that it was probably lame now, last year one of the bunnies had a broken back and while fine every other way, it couldn’t hop. We took it to Ohio Wildlife rescue where they humanly put it to sleep.
But this bunny flopped over, and started moving slowly- it’s eyes were still closed so it couldn’t see where it was going. I was relieved to see it could move all it’s legs. I put it in a box and then made the boys come out to help me find the nest. If I was smart I would have let Astro back out to show me where it was since he dug the bunny out of the nest.
I really didn’t think we would be able to find it, our yard isn’t small and it has a ton of good hiding places. But I found it, dug down in and saw one more bunny, so I put this bunny back in and hoped for the best.
The next day I went to check out on it and there were a lot of flies around it. I peaked in and my bunny was still alive but the other one didn’t appear to be moving. I told Andy I thought it was dead because of the flies. He said no, probably just from bunny poop. He poked the 2nd bunny, it moved. We rigged up the nest so we would be able to tell if the mama was coming back. Two days later nothing had been moved. I was starting to get concerned, not to mention I couldn’t let the dogs out without close supervision.
So today I dug into the nest again, both bunnies poked their heads out and twitched their noses at me. I called for Andy, who really thought we should just let nature take its course, I mean there really are a lot of bunnies around here. But I couldn’t leave them to die, and when he came and took a peak, he couldn’t resist them either. So he pulled them out and sure enough there was a dead bunny in there, with flies and maggots- yuck. Our poor bunnies were happy to get out of there. We called Ohio wildlife rescue and they said to bring them in, they would take care of them until they could go out on their own, probably in another week or two.
I don’t know what not so very smart bunny thinks it’s a good idea to have babies in a yard with a bunch of dogs but these bunnies need to to knock it off - it totally stresses me out.

Shiloh thought these flowers were pretty cool. I had to agree.

I have a few vintage cameras sitting on the shelf but lately I seem to have come across a bunch of old Polaroids.
I recently found one of these

I got it for $10 when I tagged along with my friend Aimee to a flea market recently. it’s in great shape, came with the case. They stopped making the film years ago- well as of this year they stopped making all Polaroid film- but you can still find instant film and retrofit it to use in the camera- I can’t wait to try it because I have no idea if it even works. Of course the film cost more than what I paid for the camera…..
It was Number 8 on PC Worlds 50 greatest gadgets of the past 50 years- cool.
My parents have one of these in their basement, looks brand new. It uses pack film- I read somewhere that you can use some type of Fuji film in it too.

and my mom told me the other day that she found an old basic land camera at my Grandpa’s house when she was cleaning it out.
Cameras are so much fun.

Spent the day at the lake yesterday and now we are all tired. On-going debate in our house- boat or pool. Andy wants a boat, the boys and I want a pool. We’ll see.
In the meantime I sit on the porch with my little guy with little bags of organic carrots (Costco- the BEST deal on these). He bites off half and gives half to himself, half to a dog. 1 out of three boys likes raw carrots (the other two prefer cooked) and 3 out of 4 dogs like them.
I have prepped everything for dinner (fajitas on the grill) and planted all the plants that were getting droopy in their pots while I decided on the perfect location. And now I sit on the porch swing with a fan blowing in my face, dreaming of a cool refreshing pool to jump into. Think I will win this debate? Stay tuned…..
One of the things that I thought a lot about yesterday is how I wish our families lived nearby. When we drove the (rented) boat by all the cool lake houses, almost all of them had lots of families playing outside. Generations enjoying the lake, each other’s company, meals outside. Perfect.
But in a weird twist of fate, my brother is moving from Ohio to Texas, and Andy’s sister might be moving from Texas to NY, so here we sit. Enjoying the midwest with our own little group of 5. Plus 4 furry friends. And that’s cool too.
And since no post is fun without a picture, here is one from the group I tried to do solo

oh yeah baby- as Cole likes to say- I totally scored on the J Crew flip flops. My all time favorites as they are so SO comfortable. I used to own one pair, but picked up a couple more at the outlet the other day for a grand total of $12. Yee Ha Cowboy (his other favorite saying).
Speaking of feet, while my size isn’t as huge as my sister in law (who always finds herself shopping with the female impersonators in the bargain basement of Macy’s) they did grow to a size 9 after having three kids- well actually after having Blake- but he was/is huge so that explains that. Anyway, my oldest son now wears the same size- this is both weird and cool at the same time. Weird because when I see his feet dangling off the couch I always think “dang- not sure how that happened” but cool because if I need a pair of shoes really quick I can throw on his because like the other two (well three- Andy included) he never puts them away.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
Oh and here are some fun pillows

you can find them here.
