I have been living vicariously through Gina at Quilter’s Buzz.
I am so jealous of the whole Houston Quilt Show experience. I have never had much of a desire to go, having been to the Dallas quilt show (with a couple kids in tow) it just always seemed like too much work to view other peoples quilts.
But the fabric is what gets me. I want to see the fabric. That is the difference between the Houston show vs. regular quilt shows. I imagine that I would be so overwhelmed that I would just have to stand and stare. When she described the samples, oh man my fingers were itching to touch it. Sigh.
New stuff from Amy
New colorway from Denyse
and a new line from Anna Maria
Mark the calendar I am going next year!

and now I am the proud owner of some DS fabric. No idea what I am going to do with it, planning on something for ME. Andy has taken the boys to Cosi on this hot muggy Saturday and I am cleaning up a bit and getting ready to get some work done. Hard to get moving today, stayed up way too late at a friends house and now all I can think about is a nap.

RUGS! Saw this while browsing some favorite blogs. Love this idea.
It is so stinking hot here, it’s been non-stop a/c use- hoping to open the windows again soon….

Took the plunge and made some scraps into a pillow. Interesting working without a pattern and trying to get the size to work out. I think it turned out pretty cool.
Welcome to my living room little pillow.
edited to add…
Yes, these pillows will make it to site- I just need to figure out how to list individual items. They will be one of kind, not mass produced

I can’t really remember when I became such a cotton snob. I think it was right after I had my first kid, when words like “organic” and “all natural” became part of my vocabulary. I remember that I didn’t want anything that wasn’t 100% cotton to ever touch my babies skin. I am still that way and that baby is now 9 years old.
Not that I didn’t try synthetics, who could resist when all those fleece blankets came out that were so cheap and colorful. But when it came down to it, my kids didn’t even like them all that much, especially the hot blooded one who wound up sweating in a blanket that didn’t “breathe”. Now the new “minky” fabrics are the big hit, blech! Polyester! What could be worse?!
So it’s all cotton for me, nothing like wrapping up in a quilt that has gotten softer with each wash and feels so great against my skin.
Doesn’t this look inviting?
And don’t you love the dog nose pointing out?

Found a bolt of this fabric yesterday. It is so yummy I just want to eat it. I can’t decide if I want to put it up for bags or be selfish and save it all for myself.
We are off to Granville today, a small artsy town about 20 minutes outside of town. One of Andy’s co-workers has a big old historic house and has invited us over to watch the fireworks tonight. There is a big festival with lots of things for kiddos so it should be a fun day. Andy’s friend went to high school with Amy Butler (who lives and works in Granville) so maybe if we run into her I can actually meet the fabric goddess herself. Taking the camera, hope to get lots of good pictures.
