Room Re-Do

SO remember last week or maybe two weeks ago (time has been crazy weird lately- hasn’t it?) when I talked about the room redo?

I love this little room. When our house was built it was built as the “family room” but obviously it wasn’t for a family of 6, we couldn’t even squeeze in as a family of 4 very well.

But it is a cozy little room. One wall is all brick, with built-ins, a huge fireplace (in fact we joke that they caught critters in the backyard and cooked them up in the fireplace).

Every winter I am drawn back to this room.

But furniture doesn’t work well in there and we have our big black desk in there that has to stay.

I have had my eye out for a couple cozy chairs for in there but when my mom and I were out shopping the day before T-giving I saw the perfect love seat for that room. Only problem, it came with a hefty price tag.

So I didn’t buy it, but took pics and sent them to Andy. He loved it. We decided to look around more, find a less expensive option. I mean we have 4 kids, 3 dogs. I don’t want to babysit furniture.

But after looking around on that rainy night before T-giving Andy finally said, “You know what, I am tired of living like we are still in college.”

So back to Pottery Barn we went.

And now we have a nice new love seat. And I LOVE it. I am so glad we got it. It’s prefect for that room.

Even the birdies got to move into the room

Then I decided that since our family is now complete, I needed stockings that matched. Instead of the hodge podge dealio we had going on. Back to PB, because when they have this in the catalog….

I mean, that’s 2 out of 4- right?

So now we have this

The garland thingies hanging out on the mantle are waiting for someone to do something with them. Cole wants the mantle, I want the ceiling beams. We’ll see who wins.

  1. Looks like a great little room. Did you know you can paint brick? My parents did it in their last house that had a fireplace in the kitchen. I can imagine a similar thing in your study.

  2. Hello! I found your blog through The Lettered Cottage on the post about your Ohio dream home, which is lovely! Your current home is beautiful too. I saw you moved your birds into the room with the fireplace. I used to have parakeets too. Sadly, one of them died after we moved their cage into our living room with a fireplace. Her lungs couldn’t take the smoke. Just thought I should share that in case being so close to a fireplace is not a good thing for little parakeets.
