End of Summer

The kids had an extra long Summer this year and I was ready for them to go back. They needed something to do besides screen time and they needed to make friends. I am surprised at how well they have adjusted but fully anticipate some bumps in the road soon.

One of the first things I did once we got back was hit Costco. Our rental has very little storage so it is hard to buy in bulk. I also wasn’t sure that I needed to now that we have gone from 4 kids down to 2. But…. these two eat a lot and we got our old basement fridge plugged in and going in our garage here so that helps. Not having a decent pantry is the hardest part.

Eva and have tried to hit a few parks but it has been so hot it just isn’t fun. But you know what is fun?

Locopops

And so is Mellow Mushroom. We usually hit the one in Durham but this time we tried the one close to us by UNC’s campus.

These misters come in handy on hot summer nights 🙂 Love going “downtown” with the kiddos.

I love getting texts like this from friends back in Ohio when they spot Austin on a run 🙂 Technology is a wonderful thing.

House progress. It seems SO slow at this point and it doesn’t help to be living so close and knowing when they are there or when they are not there. Patience is not my thing but I am working on it.

An Orb spider in the backyard. I named her Charlotte.

He’s kinda cute. Now one and a half years old. He’s a big dude and clumsier than ever. He falls down the stairs a lot because he tries to go way too fast and trips over his long legs.

Drove by our old house the other day. So weird to see other kids playing in the backyard. Although it wasn’t perfect for us I really liked that house. I miss my kids being the ages they were when we lived there. our last two houses have been on 2 acres, our next one is on less than one. I hope that I don’t miss the space. Taking care of 2 acres is a lot of work though. The people that bought our house put in a fence around the backyard.

These dogs crack me up

Pan nachos- so much better than microwaved.

So long Silent Sam. Lots of controversy over this statue being taken down.

Good Riddance.

Evening walks at UNC are my fave. I can’t wait for the leaves to start to change and the temps drop a bit.

It actually got kinda chilly for a day or so and the kids started complaining that they were freezing. Honestly it was like 70 or something.

It got hot again and we were back to ice cream

I’m going to miss the outdoor movies in our neighborhood- the kids didn’t want to go to this one so it was an easy date night 🙂

This has become my new fave breakfast. Avocado toast with eggs, Organic pico from Costco and Organic feta cheese (also from Costco). SO good!!!

Good reminder….

Cole got these notes in the mail from Ohio 🙂

Last night of Summer dinner

New house check 🙂

Lunchbox notes for the first day of school.

First day of 3rd grade. She was so brave starting a new school.

First day of High School for Cole. I honestly can’t believe he is in 9th grade.

And that wraps up Summer around here.
