What to stock up on for the Coronavirus for your family, kids, and pets

Sooo… are you freaking out about the Coronavirus? Up until today I have been blowing it off as media hype. I mean how many times have we seen scares like this before? Remember the swine flu- and when one of my kids came down with it? I have seen a lot of my friends on FB and in moms groups freaking out and posting pictures of bare shelves in the bleach section at Target. I have done inward eye rolls at their zombie apocalypse paranoia.

But…..my husband now works on the medical side of things these days and word on the inside is that this is no joke. UGH.

So what do you do to prepare? Besides washing your hands a lot (duh).

I am brainstorming what my family (including dogs) would need to wait this out and thought it might be good to share ideas!

I think it is important to think about adding nonperishable food items to carry you through a few weeks. These are most likely things that you will be able to use either way. Zombie Apocalypse or not.

For me that would be

Annies. We eat a lot of this but my personal fave is the ravioli. I mean you could open a can and eat it cold if you had to. My kids prefer the purple box mac and cheese.

Chicken Broth. Chicken soup is my fave but I hardly ever even eat the chicken. It’s the broth I love. With veggies. Especially if I’m not feeling good. So this will be in the shopping cart.

Gatorade. Nothing tastes better when you don’t feel good.

Advil or ibuprofen. This is a must for pain and /or fever.

Bleach. I don’t know a better way to kill germs. I have never tried these bleach crystals but they look interesting, and less messy!

Does thinking about all of this stress you out? Yeah me too. I LOVE these stress relief supplements from Olly. They are even safe for kids.

Extra dog food. We have our dog food arrive through a subscription each month so we don’t have to worry about it but I think I would feel better having a back up bag. Our dogs eat Purina Pro Plan Savor

Puzzles. I always buy puzzles over the holidays because it’s a fun activity to do with your family. I leave them out and people can work on them whenever. I recently finished this USA license plate one which was kinda hard but super fun!

Sparkle water. Is anyone else as obsessed as I am with this stuff? I started with La Crox and moved on to Bubly.

Peanut butter and Nutella. My kids would live on this if I would let them. Eva likes to make sandwiches with peanut butter, nutella, and bananas.

Eva and I both love air popped popcorn. But we like different stuff on it. I actually put hot sauce on mine, or everything but the bagel seasoning, or parmesan cheese and garlic salt depending on my mood. Eva sticks with butter. 🙂

Obviously toilet paper, any medications you or your kids are on, paper towels, etc should be well stocked.

Back again for part 2. Although fingers crossed it isn’t needed. We are headed to Disney and Universal next month!
