Summer!

Yesterday was our first official day of Summer. No more online school! It was also Blake’s birthday but he is still in Chapel Hill waiting for a friend to arrive from Ohio. Can’t wait to see him here on the island this afternoon!

It has been so great having him home for the Summer. He goes back to Asheville mid-July.

His crazy cat hates my cats so they won’t be sad to see him leave lol.

He’s cute tho.

Pete likes to sleep in my office chair and this is where Eva has been doing her online school. Both Pete and Piper have been an active part in her classroom. All the other kids loved seeing them each day.

We have had a pretty dry season so far this year but we did have one day we had to go to the basement for a few minutes. It was all fine and we ended up not even getting much rain.

When Blake got his cat from the rescue we were told he doesn’t really care for other cats. It’s not like he is super mean, he just likes to stalk them and then jump on them and it really freaks them out.

So sometimes he gets timeouts on the screened porch. Which he loves. And Blake likes to put little hats on him. Which he also loves.

We have spent a lot of days in the pool. As soon as Eva wraps up with school for the day we are outside.

I have been slowly trying new things in the air fryer. The other day I bought a bag of potatoes and made parmesan garlic fries. They were so good the kids keep asking for more.

More cute cats

Currently reading….. I love Summer!

Cole got his 2nd Covid shot and Eva got her first shortly after her 12th birthday! Yay!

Having Blake home means lots of buffalo chicken dip in the crock pot

More cat pics- Piper is ready for vacation

Every year the birds make a nest on the back porch ceiling fan.

And we started planting again

And our seedlings. Basil, cucumbers, zucchini, peppers….

We went back to the beach for a bit

And enjoyed lots of pretty sunsets

And beach wild flowers (these are Indian Blankets)

Mr. I don’t like cats started liking cats

Oakley the goof even likes them now

And then it was time to take the boat back home

Back to online school

Birthday celebrations

More cats

And more pool time

And lots of blooms everywhere

Happy Summer!

I always considered myself a dog person (still do for the most part) but the first time we brought a kitty home, my life completely changed. I absolutely love cats now and couldn’t imagine not having at least one around. 🙂

Yay for Eva and Cole getting their shots! *thumbs up*

Same! My boys totally converted me to cats. They are so fun and weird! But my Goldies are my heart…Also they sleep in and the cats are up at 5am. 🙁

Hi, if you don’t want the birds to nest on your porch fan (or anywhere) just paint the ceiling a sky blue color (like the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island MI does) and the birds will not fly up there or make a nest because they think it is the sky. The Grand Hotel does this because they have tons of balconies on guest rooms, not to mention the dozens of guests on the worlds longest porch at any given time. And there isn’t any bird poo to deal with!
I’ve been following your blog since i discovered your bags a few years ago when you still lived in Worthington. We are in rural NW Ohio but both of our sons are Ohio States graduates and one is in Columbus the other is in Worthington. I lived in North Carolina when my dad was stationed at Camp Lejeune. We lived on base and that is where I went to HS at Lejeune High. Since we lived on base I spent my summers at Onslow Beach, but also went to Surf City and Emerald Isle. NC has beautiful, natural beaches. My sister and I stayed in Jacksonville NC (after a short time back in CA) for another 6 years before I wound up in Ohio. I have to say this is the coldest climate I ever lived in being born into a military family and moving every 2-4 years. I have enjoyed watching your family grow up and also your pets, glad you are enjoying have kitties now! Your homes are lovely. Thanks for sharing your life and family through your blog.
