365 - Life

IMG_0229-2 This little girl has been so good lately- being hauled to all of these sledding trips, letting anyone and everyone hold her and help take care of her since Andy has been working so much or in NYC and never home.  My friends and boys have been so helpful lately.  The boys- well I am just proud of them for seeming to just know lately when I need a little help.  It is hard to be a single parent- which is what I feel like most days.

I was at dinner with friends on Friday night, when Andy texted me that the shuttle (jet) had a flat and they had to fly a new plane or tire (I wasn’t sure which) from Columbus to NYC to pick them up.  He usually gets in close to 10pm, he had no idea when he would get home.  Crazy.

But he made it home late, and took the boys sledding (yet again) yesterday.  Eva and I stayed home.  She went to bed early last night and slept a good 12 hours.  What a good baby!

IMG_0224 She is just so stinkin’ cute. I know the next shot is blurry but I love it anyway.

IMG_0207 For those that have emailed me about my camera that is for sale- I will get back with you.  It has just been a busy few days.  The basic facts are it is almost two years old, I upgraded to a full frame because I didn’t have a lot of space to work with for product images.  And I don’t need two nice cameras.  Blake wants the camera but it is just too nice for a ten year old, plus he has my old Rebel, plus I always find that Rebel with the lens cap off.  So I am it selling instead.  I will go through the emails in order that they were received.

IMG_0246-2 My goal for this 365 project was to become a better photographer and document a year in the life.

So far it has been a messy representation of my life.  So far the photography side hasn’t happened as I have either used my point and shoot or used my SLR as a point in shoot.  I am going to try to change that.

Last night I had Eva in the tub and yelled down to Andy to get my camera, almost forgot my picture for the day!

IMG_0263 And of course when you are taking bathtub shots you have no time to mess with settings on the camera, especially with crazy girl here who likes to try to swim in the tub.  So that means a lot of blurry, poorly exposed shots.  But…. it also represents real life right now.

IMG_0256 And since my photos were less than spectacular, I decided to do a plug-in on two of them in LR just for fun and interest.

IMG_0197 Lightroom is so awesome for lazy busy people like me.  I wish I had the time and patience to play with pictures in photoshop, but it hasn’t happened yet.  So LR is my friend.  Open in, click a plug-in, and there you go.  A fun black and white.

  1. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself- these photos are excellent, and you are right: you are capturing life as it is right now. Well done.

  2. I agree w/Mary. We don’t walk around in a perfect life where things are always put in it’s place and look picture perfect. I love these shots of her! I have no idea what your talking about when it comes to photography and it’s terms, but I love the way the pics have turned out either way!

  3. My kids love to look at the photos of Eva. She is perfect in every way!!! LOVE, LOVE to look at her!

  4. She is just perfect! I love the black and white ones you did with or in LR. I have not a clue when it comes to photography! I have a litte point and shoot that I normally forget to use. I LOVE your photos. You are doing a wonderful job. And tell those boys they are great sons for being so helpful. Their wives will thank you some day!

  5. Love the photos and LOVE LR. My little bro is a professional photographer and uses LR 90% of the time. I am slowly learning.

  6. I did the 365 project last year and honestly the best part about it was not always having to get the perfect picture. I love photography & am always trying to get “perfect pictures” so this project let me just catch the moment somedays and I love the results.
    Love these pictures of Ava.

  7. Wow. She’s adorable. As always. About the 365 thing – don’t forget that even if you’re shooting with the p/s, you’re working on composition – so… you’re still working on your photography skills. Can you tell I do it too?
