Cross Country season is winding down.
I am still amazed that Austin has embraced this sport. Running is hard. He claims it’s all mental.
Austin is 6′ now, the kid next to him is 6’4. They are 14.
I saw a t-shirt on a kid this past summer that said
Running cross country is like banging your head against the wall.
It only feels good when you stop.
It’s a mental sport, and we are all INSANE.
I thought that was pretty accurate.
There was a big invitational this weekend at home so we walked over to watch him run.
Lots of schools were there. It was a perfect day.
Austin is 12 seconds away from beating his schools record. When you are running, 12 seconds is forever. He has one more meet, I don’t know if he will beat it, but either way we are very proud.
It’s been a good season. He beat his personal record at this meet.
Most of the kids were puking as they came through the finish line. I felt so bad for the people working there- you can see this guy tell the kid about to puke to keep moving!
I wanted to stay to see the rest of the team run but Austin got his smoothie and wanted to go home.
it’s been a good season.

Way to go, Austin! Cross Country is a real test of endurance and mental desire. It provides an opportunity to meet the wall and go on through it.
Good job, Austin! We are very proud of you!!
Love your blog! Thanks for NOT sharing the puking pics 🙂
