Primrose Cottage at Bald Head Island

In mid-October, 2024, a family renting our home brought a portable charcoal grill with them. They used it one evening, but left it setting on a flammable surface outside overnight. By 5 AM the morning of October 13th, the house was on fire. Fortunately the family escaped with no injuries, but our home was destroyed.

The loss of property isn’t the same as the loss of a loved one, but it still has feelings of losing something you love, where memories have been made and can’t be revisited, not to mention the fear of financial loss. We poured so much of our time and money into the home, always making improvements. The blog post below highlights some of the transformation we made over the years.

The process we have been through has been incredibly difficult, but we are hopeful about rebuilding our lovely beach home. Follow along as we document our journey through the insurance process, fire investigation, and our continuing effort to rebuild. We will post our stories on this blog, and across social media.
