Want to see something cool?

library card catalog

Remember these? I had to explain to my kids about library card catalogs. They didn’t get it.

This card catalog is originally from Illinois State University but then went to live in the home of my SIL Julie. Every time I went to her house I eyed this cool old piece of furniture that housed her huge cd collection. All the cool little pictures that were cut out and slid into the slots- I am assuming the work of her husband Jim.

Anyway, when she recently moved from Dallas to New Jersey, she left it behind. My SIL Kathy, who is always first to claim first dibs on everything, claimed first dibs. But then decided she didn’t have room- sooooo, when we had an impromptu trip to Texas a couple weeks ago, Andy suggested that we rent a Uhaul trailer and take the card catalog home.

I was so excited!!!

So Julie I just wanted you to see that your old card catalog is being loved in it’s new home. Andy and Austin filled it full of our cd’s, in alphabetical order.

A completely different topic, have any of you crafty chicks out there made anything from Amy Butler’s latest book?

Amy Butler's Little Sitches book

I recently bought it but I haven’t made anything yet.

A cute little note- a few months ago my MIL was visiting from Texas and we went to a local quilt store. They had a big display with Amy’s book and fabrics. We picked up the book and started flipping through. One picture caught my eye, and my mother-in-law said, “look, it’s your baby!”

How cute is this picture??

I can’t wait for long hair to play with! Austin has longish hair but he won’t let me touch it!

I’m so happy you guys can use the card catalog – one heavy piece of furniture though! My old boss always wanted it because it is actually from Southern Illinois University – his alma mater. But when they downsized into a University Park home his wife told him no. It sure is a fun thing to have in the house!

I knew I had the school wrong- and I was to lazy to get up and check.

    Got the state right though!

I made the crib set out of Little Stitches for Little Ones. I still need to take pictures of the nursery and get them online, but it turned out great. I made a few small changes, but the pattern was easy. I particuarly like the bumper and crib skirt.
