First off- thanks for all the great comments yesterday.  So many of you I have gotten to know due to your regular comments on the blog and I love that.

Today will be a big picture dump, so I didn’t bother to edit any of them.  Let’s start with Miss E.  We are long overdue on a shot of her, aren’t we?

IMG_4556 She hasn’t been feeling that good.  Andy made me promise that I would take her in and have our friend Kris the dr. take a listen.

IMG_4554 So I texted Kris and asked if I could bring her in-  all is good.  Viral bronchitis.  No fever, clear lungs.  Yay!

IMG_4550 I left my camera out yesterday and just took pictures every now and then

Like my next project

something didn’t seem quite fair here

Lunch- Cole asks for this almost every day

and then I made him move.  Won’t be winning any mother of the year awards with that one.  Which brings me to another topic- tv and video time.

When I had just two small boys I tried to put a limit on how much they spent on each.  As time went by, and they pushed for more, I decided that it was a battle that I just didn’t want to fight every day.  And they needed to figure out how much was too much.  So I let it go.  And you know what?  They watch very little tv.  Video games are another story.  Some days it’s a lot, some days it’s a little.  But it has a flow.  And I have noticed that they police themselves.  They have realized that it doesn’t feel good sitting in front of the tv all day.  I watch them move on, Legos, guitars, sports… And I am very happy that they are learning moderation on their own.  Don’t get me wrong- some days I have to give a reminder that it is time to move along- but for the most part they do it themselves.  A skill I think every kids needs.  We all know the kids that went to college and then watched tv and played video games all day because they could never do it at home.  It’s a harder lesson to learn at 18.

I should add that this is what works for us, it may not be the best option for you.  I take the same approach with music.  I told the boys that I would pay for their guitar lessons as long as they would practice without me telling them to do it.  So far so good.  Every now and then I will drop a reminder for Blake- but Austin plays every single day.  Without me telling him.  However when he asked if he could also play trumpet in the band I said no way.  One instrument was enough, I just knew I would have to force trumpet practice and lets be honest here- I really didn’t want to listen to it.  Although I could have done what my neighbor did when her girls were younger- they practiced outside on the screened porch.

And then it was naptime

Eva wasn’t the only one napping

Blake came home from school and asked if I made cookies.  I told him no, but he could make some.

IMG_4587

I got out the stuff and showed him the recipe.  Then I had to take Austin back to school to get forgotten homework

and Blake made cookies

I wish the pictures continued, but I had dinner to fix, and basketball practice to get Blake to, a sleepover guest arrived for Blake, a hockey game….

But here is what I wished I had also photographed

  • Shiloh drinking from Eva’s bottle that was left on the floor.
  • Blake’s finished cookies (which turned out good!)
  • Andy coming home with Chipotle for dinner for him and I
  • Blake in his skin tight Under Armour shirt.  I think it is time for a new one
  • Aimee bringing me over a mid-afternoon Starbucks
  • The guy that was totally smitten with Eva at the dr.’s offiice
  • the look on the school office ladies faces when I took Cole to school late and he let out a huge hacking cough and they said, ” you are signing him in??”
  • Karen at the gym when she said, “do you want to just go get coffee instead of staying here?”
  • Cole pitching a fit when I went to grab him from his buddies house when Eva’s dr. appointment ran late.
  • Shiloh- jumping in the car for the quick jaunt over to the school, getting all nervous when Austin disappeared inside the school, she started to shake.  She really is his pooch.  Every boy needs a friend like that.
  • Austin acting like he was trapped in the basement behind the french door and Eva trying to save him.  Their hands both up against the glass.
  • When it started to rain and I had left the dogs outside.

So much to learn from the 365 project.  I realize that I am not doing it right, I think the idea is to pick one picture to represent your day.  I just don’t know how I could do that.  My days are all over the map.  But that’s ok.  You know, march to the beat of your own drummer and all that.

my lack of motivation continued throughout the day, where i pretty much sat on the couch and read all day.

i was just thinking last night about asking you what your video game restrictions are. simon plays them *so* much lately and while i’ve never had a set rule on how much, i’m considering that it might need to happen.

I think it is great you take more than one photo for your 365 project. I started this year, too and I have felt like my one photo doesn’t really represent my life that well. I have also found it is really hard for me to find something to take a picture of every day since I don’t have kids yet or a job outside of our house 🙂
    love your mad photography skills!

At least you are taking several pictures a day, for the most part. I find myself running around at night trying to figure out what to take a picture of because I forgot to take one during the day. I also am not a big fan of my little camera anymore. It is a Canon and it is 12.1 megapixels, but I suck at using it. I’m gonna leave my digital SLR out more often. Way better photos.

I love looking at your pics. It’s nice to see how another busy mom handles everything. We are normal, right? 🙂

I really loved seeing your day! That picture of Eva asleep just about did me in, it’s so darn cute. What a wonderful household you have!

    Have a great weekend!

Wow, I’m impressed she sleeps on the couch. Scott is such a roly poly when he sleeps the crib is the only place I trust him to not fall.

Your family is so sweet. Eva melts my heart! Thanks for being so kind and sharing your pictures! It’s encouraging to see you do everything you do! I am a mom of two girls and I act like I am overwhelmed. Some days I dream of a big family and some days I can barley handle two kids and a husband! (no pets anymore) You are an inspiration!

Please dont stick to one picture a day!! I love your blog,Eva is so cute!! Your house looks like a real’home’ rather than a show home & that is something I look for in a blog. It looks so welcoming. xx

You are one busy lady. I must tell you that I was checking out your site at work(shhh!) and I had one of the pictures of Eva on the screen and a co-worker walked into my office and exclaimed, “Oh my gosh! Who is that gorgeous child!” I had to share your blog address with her. Now there were two of us not working!!
I love all the pictures you posted today. A real glimpse into a day in the life of…
