Proud Mama and Coupon Code

First of all I realized that I forgot to give you the Etsy coupon code. I listed it on FB and some of you found it that way, but for those that didn’t- the code is HollyJolly.

Ok now on to my proud Mama moment.

I don’t get to talk about my firstborn very much on this blog anymore because he is never around but since this blog is like a journal to me- I am trying to make a big effort to get down the moments.

Things I want to remember.

And I want to remember that I am proud of my 13 year old. No, 13 isn’t easy, there is a new attitude, and a constant need to try push limits and figure out who he is.

But for the most part we have been pretty lucky. His love a playing the guitar has really taken off and he joined the jazz band at school, and plays percussion in the regular band.

Last night he had his first concert- with a little solo in front.

He really did not want to stand in front and play the bells. He asked if he could stand to the side. His teacher said no.

We were up in the balcony with Cole and Eva so my pictures are from very far away, but that’s his teacher in the yellow tie.

He sent me a very nice email today, it said

I am so proud of Austin. He came into band this year, and has really taken off. He is so good in fact, that he earned that “solo” spot in the “Concerto for Sleigh Bells and Band”. I am extremely impressed by his musical ability, as well as his maturity in class- nothing but hard work every day.

I am not sure how hard a bell solo is, but either way- I am proud of him.

And especially when he is doing what he loves- playing the guitar

Moving on, this is what it looks like outside

It’s moments like that – that make the hard days worth it. Love the lights! All of our snow has melted here – huge bummer.

way to go, Austin! Mr. Alexis is great, I went to school with him. He truly loves his job and his students! You should be very proud! I hope you have a great Christmas with your family!

That is awesome! I can see why you are so proud 🙂

I am hoping 13 is easier than 12. I do realize that I am living in a fantasy world but in order for me to survive I MUST believe that right now 😉
