So during nap, well after I accidentally fell asleep myself and then woke up thinking “crap! now I only have 30 minutes!!” I grabbed a picture to play with on Photoshop and try out some of the things we learned at the workshop.

I’m not kidding when I say I was 5 minutes into it when I heard Eva knocking on the wall. That’s what she does when she wakes up, well more like pounds on the wall.

I quickly did a few things that I remembered Amy teaching us- but I have so much more that I want to play with and try.

If I had more time I may have done something about the coloring of his skin, or his left arm and pants looks a little blown out. I may have cropped it, I don’t know- can’t decide. I was trying to think really fast!! Oh and I tried Florabella’s resize and sharpen for the web action and I think it made it too sharp, I’m not sure I like that look.

Some of the things that I loved about Amy’s editing is that

1. It was very minimal

2. She doesn’t do creepy eyes. I LOVE that she doesn’t do creepy eyes. In fact she doesn’t even really touch the eyes unless she absolutely has to. She explained that she wants her images to be timeless, which I think is her nice way of saying that the creepy eye phase is “trendy” and lets face it- a little weird.

3. The changes she makes are very subtle and clean.

4. She looks at her images as a work of art and cares more about composition then post processing the heck out of each picture. Her background is in art.

5. She gets it right in camera. This is probably the biggest. Shoot in manual. Always.

The tips she gives on her blog for interacting with kids- well she actually does all these things. She’s a natural with kids.
